Necromancer Questions
« on: November 17, 2012, 02:40:30 pm »

Hi. I just got a necromacner seige and caught a necromancer in a cage trap. This was the second one this fort (though I've seen 3 necromancers so far, one was paticularly annoying/hilarious, he was an animal caretaker who attacked during a goblin ambush and kept bringing a dog's head back to life to fight the goblins. The goblins were captured, so was the dog head, but the necromancer got away :(.) and it was a different necromancer. So, having caught him, I have a few questions:

1. Will the first necromancer come back to attack again? I have a bit of a grudge against that one and would like to deal with her.
2. How many Necromancers live in 1 tower, as I said earlier I've seen 3 so far, do you think there will be any more?
3. If a Necromancer immigrant drinks from a well of unlife or is attacked by a were-beast, will he become a vampire/werecreature? (Not related to the situation at hand, and I'm not sure why I'd want have a vampiric necromancer, but i figured I'd ask while I'm here.)

2. Depends on how popular/successful the lead necromancer of the tower is, and how long your worlds' history is. There're no definite way to say, except minimum of one. I've seen up to a dozen in particularly old world.

3. They're pretty much a undead for all practical purpose, AFAIK, and immortal anyway. Vampirism' possible, but I don't think wereism' possible ( correction is welcome :D ).

No idea about the 1, I've not been keeping track of escaped siege victims.

Regarding one, now don't quote me on this, but I think escapees are considered gone. It is the mechanic that makes civ leaders "Dead" when in reality they just humped into the river and floated down-stream (true story). I think it's of embarressment personally.

Again though, not perfectly sure. But it should be consistent.

I just thought "If I had a necromancer in a cage, I wouldn't bother to do anything other than throw the bastard into the death pit so he can gargle on his broken bones and expire of thirst at the bottom among all the skeletons, corpses and bodily debris of every single invader my fortress has ever had."

Then I thought about that for a moment.
