That would be a bit of work to do; plus, I don't know if I have a video recording program I can use, besides my livestream channel, I suppose. If you want to watch me battle live, and suggest me battles to do in Super-Melee via chat, I can always open my channel back up. I can have my mic on to respond and teach as I fight.

Ah, well it was just a suggestion. We could go straight to netbattling if you want to.

If you recall through various conversations in the game (mainly the one with Hayes) you ought to look in the Vela system (It's the star you came from, where the research team was sent to). It's not named in orbit, or anything, but that's the place.

Unzervalt was the slave shielded world you fought Ur-quan over. It's not labeled as your homeworld in-game, but that's the place.

Ah, so I just triggered a flag then. That's all. Curses, I thought that I was so close to solving the mystery behind those things.

Combat Tip: Ur-Quan
The Ur-Quan are a deadly foe, but are also scared when it comes to sending fighters after any ship with a point-defense device (Vindicator and Cruiser, as well as the Chmmr Avatar), seeing as fighters can be 1-shotted to death by those auto-tracking guns, and it would be pointless to send suicide squadrons after them. Keep your Cruisers at a distance, and pummel them, and gravity whip when you can to keep your distance. With the Vindicator, it doesn't hurt to have at least 1 point defense for this same advantage to keep the distance advantage. And with the Chmmr, just tractor pull them all over the place until they hit a planet, or are in range of your beam weapon/point defense, but can't fire upon you. I don't remember if the fighters' AI is fixed or not in this, but they may or may not avoid the planet, but asteroids might be a different matter.

I hope you find this information *squishy*, *happy camper*.

I do find that information *squishy*. Some preliminary testing with Super Melee shows how screwed the Ur-Quan are. Our Cruisers can exploit the AI and whittle the Dreadnought down to size. The Orz Nemesis and Fwiffo can both kite the Ur-Quan, the Vindicator can apparently blast them to shreds. The Furies aren't to shabby either, but they're not as good as the other ships at Ur-Quan killing.

If memory serves, you're 6 or 7 techs away from finishing the tech line. Things really pick up after that, so you're at least nearing the end of planet mining hell and getting on with the real meat of the game.

So a couple more lander techs and then some improved modules for the Vindicator? Or is there some really special awesome tech at the end of it all?

Anyways next up I'll probably be going into Umgah space and searching each and every system for their homeworld!

...

There has to be a better way to do this.

Okay, I added UQM to Steam, as well as sent you a friend request; so whenever you're ready and I'm available, we can do a few skirmishes.

You're spot-on on the techs. There's no plot spoilers or anything, but I'll spoiler the list in case someone doesn't want to know ahead of time.

Homeworlds aren't that hard to find. Once you speak to a race, their area of influence appears on the map. The homeworld tends to be at or very near the center of their influence. Some even tell you, like Fwiffo giving you the coordinates and Secret Spathi Cypher, or the Zoq-Fot-Pik. The only exception I can remember is the Ilwrath, but you already know they left to kill Pkunk, so no spoilers or anything there.
Logged
And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

I... really need to do some actual work right now. Sorry about that.

So are you saying that the Ilwrath don't have a homeworld, or that it's on the edge of sphere of influence or something?

The Ilwrath homeworld is north-ish (I forget exactly where) of their circle, because their fleet was sent south to harass Pkunk. You'll probably run across more details quite soon, so that's all I'm willing to say. :)

How important is the Ilwrath homeworld to saving the Pkunk? I've played quite a bit before you posted, and I think that I'm bumping my head up against the time limit. My journey to Umgah space... expanded in scope a bit.

Quest spoilers? Nah. That'd be cheating :)

Quest spoilers after the Pkunk die horribly?

EDIT: I'm just asking because right now the only choices I can see for the Pkunk are which way they can die. Horrible flaming death, or equally horrible machine-gun bullets.

Losing is FUN!

Nah, the situation isn't unwinnable, nor does losing them make the game unwinnable. Play it through like a dwarf! (I'm too fuzzy on how the events work to say anything but go X and do Y, and that's REALLY a disservice to the game. Alleviating mining tedium is different.)

...

I always save-scummed in Dwarf Fortress.

I think that I'll go with horrible machine-gun bullets then. It's much less travelling for me, so I should be able to solve everything quicker. I hope.

EDIT: Good(?) news! One of the videos seems to have vanished off the face of the planet, so I should have more time to settle everything. Wish me luck!

EDIT2: New plan. How do I get my hands on a hyperwave communicator? Sod that, you folks aren't going to tell me anyways.

We could tell you, but that might involve spoilers.

I need to stop playing and start commentating.

Anyways I have three more videos for your enjoyment, so... enjoy.

I still have three more videos to talk over and upload, so bear with me for a bit. I should have them out before the weekend.

For the sake of pun, you found the melnorme at a one of his favorite supergiants.

EDIT:
The Thraddash are such a broken ship in the game, I think someone made a mod to make them ridiculously pricey for online matches. They're that broken with that afterburner.
