Americans don't have Coffee Crisps. I was utterly shocked when I first discovered this.
"Coffee crisps", eh? Looks extremely similar to our Kit Kar bars, but with more wafer and less chocolate. So probably more reasonable to take in the morning regularly or the like, but fundamentally having a similar taste. We do at least have coffee
cake here, that's something.
Anyway, yeah I think mars bars have been mostly phased out by Milky Ways here, since we do have some other Mars products- or at least I think we do. Man, I really miss when Mike & Ikes were made by Mars instead of Just Born. They were totally better back then, or at least my younger, more sweet-toothed self was very disappointed with the "now with more fruit flavor" Mike & Ikes that took over. I didn't figure out until later that it was actually a change in manufacturer.
Re: Unions again.
There are definitely some bad unions. Unions that push things too far. Unions that are in the pocket of the corporation. Unions that do more for the union leaders than the workers.
There are some very good unions too, those still do amazing things sometimes and still help protect the workers from the constant pressure from above. Both of my parents have been helped out by their unions on several occasions and odds are they would be in worse positions without them. That's enough of an example for me to at least give any union that might operate in an occupation I hold, a chance. I reserve the right to drop out if I decide they're one of the bad ones(a decision I will put much research into, avoiding propaganda where possible), but I feel they should be given a chance at least.
Now, I don't really know the circumstances surrounding the strike. I will say though, that Hostess decided to take their ball and leave after one week of strikes rather than at all considering (so it would seem) improving workers' wages, does not speak well of their leadership. It certainly would appear unlikely that the strikes forced their hand into bankruptcy, at any rate.
