Searching the rest of the current floor, the party finds nothing of interest. A few goblins were taken care of, and nobody was any worse for the experience. A few goblins were relieved of their weapons... and arms, and legs...
That left the rock block stairway leading up... Not too sure what was up there, but now they faced it secure in their flanks. Cautiously gliding up the staircase they came to a small room with a few bags of copper in it. Two steps into the room a goblin emerges from behind a statue and runs past Lisid. Lisid stabs into him after a roll of the eye. This routine was getting rather silly.
Sooner or later somebody was going to get hurt, and it wouldn't be Lisid. Dispatching the goblin as a team they proceeded to check behind the remaining statues. After checking behind the statues every corner of the room Lisid advises the team to employ increased discretion. They respond with a blank stare but agree to limit their noise. At least they aren't talking too much, Lisid note with some unease...
Moving into the next room revealed an large maintenance area of some kind. The floor sunk down and was only accessible via a stairway on the right of him. Taking the leftward path, Lisid walks carefully towards a door. Halfway there though, he here's a shuffle and the sound of sandals thundering down stairs. Disbelieving, Lisid turns around to see the axelady emerging from the base of the staircase and charging a goblin... "Fuuucck".... thinks Lisid as he bolts towards the stairs to join her.
As Lisid reaches the top of the stairs he can hear the two immersed in a deadly dance. "This team..."
As Lisid comes to the bottom of the stairs to lend a hand he hears a feminine scream of pain, a sound that pierced the gloom like a lion's roar might the jungle. The Axelady's halberd fell to the floor as her left hand was crushed beneath the goblin's morningstar! How could a small thing wield a top heavy mace like that Lisid wondered directly before the Axelass kicked the goblin over its heart. Good to see she wasn't out of the fight; she had spirit at least.
The swordsman arrived before he, or Lisid would have gladly made it pay. Looking at the Lady's wound, Lisid sees it is bleeding rather profusely and bone is sticking out here and there. Lisid doubted it would heal correctly, and asked her if she would like to go back to the surface. She vehemently refused; citing that her duty to him was incomplete. How touching, he tells her, asking her to at least put her shield down and pick up the halberd once more. She tells him, "It's no use, Sera. I'm accustomed to my shield in my right hand, and I will not change for the moon above, if I ever make it back up to her." Lisid stares blankly at her; although he was sure she couldn't read his expression of disbelief. Was she really expressing a preference to a shield over a weapon? Sure shield made improvised melee tools in a pinch, but to willingly go into combat with one hand and a shield in that hand? Blah, he forced the thought out of his mind and told the team for form up. This area was cleared, and there was a doorway above, he informed them.
Inside the upstairs room was another raised gate. Were these purposely built into the sewers or some kind of aftermarket modification? One way or another Lisid walks in and looks around. The hallway was lined with skeletons and a staircase at the end lead up.
