Issues with brewing and other tasks
« on: November 16, 2012, 02:48:01 am »

So I've been having issues with brewing, cooking, and oddly enough plant milling. The issue has been that suddenly my dorfs are refusing to take perfectly good barrels from the furniture stock pile right next to the stills and kitchen that is set to only barrels and Pots. Same thing happens with the querns and bags. The dorfs cancel the job because they don't have the appropriate container when both piles are over flowing with the required items. I've managed to get the stills to run only if I tell the stock pile to give to the stills and kitchens. Soon as I get rid of that designation though the problem comes back.

Has anyone else had this issue. I don't want to leave my barrel/pot stockpile linked only to the kitchens and stills in case other storage jobs won't use them same goes for the bags.

My doctors are also apparently screaming that they can put stuff in stockpiles from their hospital zone when all hauling duties are turned off for them.

Are the stockpiles set to only take from links?

When the issue first started the stock piles wern't set to take or give at all. Just normal stock piles. It was after setting the stock pile to Give to Kitchens and Stills that the brewers and cookers would use it.

Did you forget to assign a stockpile that have barrels/pots AND a stockpile of plant to be brewed to the stills? Workshops will only work from stockpiles giving to it, OR from anywhere they can get stuff if there're no stockpile assigned to it.

Are your doctors in a burrow? They'll try to haul stuff out of it sometimes, particularly empty barrels after they finishes drinking from it. I usually give waterskin to those dwarves so they don't get stuck with barrels. ( Using military squad assignment without activating them )

Yes, but you may have accidently set the stockpiles to only use links, without having any links at all.
I've done this before, it was very frusturating trying to figure out why my barrel stockpile didn't have any barrels in it.

Nope that's not the case. My barrel stockpile has barrels and pots it in. In fact in game I just made a brand new food container stock pile and I deleted the problem stock pile....the problem still exists.
Going to try rebuilding the stills next.
