What does TSK mean?
« on: November 13, 2012, 08:30:28 pm »

Sometimes I see TSK on my workshops when selecting them with 'q'.  I also sometimes see it on items when viewing a workshop with 't'.

What does it stand for and what does it mean?

Task?
Unless i'm horribly mistaken, it means someone is doing something you assigned that workshop to do.

I thought that too, but I have lots of workshops with people doing stuff, and I only sometimes see TSK.... I thought A(ctive) meant someone was doing something.

you are correct it is for task. it means the item in question is currently/will be acted upon. this could be a an assignment in a workshop or if the item needs to be moved to a stockpile, etc...

TSK is used for items that are being used/required for a given task, A is used to designate which task is currently being done.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Note that TSK may be for a hauling job, which has been accepted by Urist McHauler who just happens to be on the complete other end of the fortress, and may get interrupted four times on his way to pick up the item from the workshop in order to eat, drink, sleep, and attend a party, before he finally crosses the entire fortress in one direction to pick up the appropriate bin to put the item in and then cross the entire fortress again in a different direction to get to the workshop, where he will stuff the item in the bin, and promptly leave the bin sitting on the workbench so he can go On Break... But yeah, TSK just means that there is a currently active job in the job list that has been claimed by a dwarf, and that job involves that item in some way...
