The Mechanics Department would like to remind Dwarmin that the 'Skills' field on the pog is meant for raw skills, not skill modsThe Flavor department would like to remind you that it is possible to team up for tasks with a high DC. I am scraping the bottom of the barrel for blanket excuses as to WHY EVERY SCIENCE AND ITEM INVESTIGATION ACTION FAILS!Sami:Argus is deployed into the tunnels once more in search of the Kings, and once more is able to find some trouble without much difficulty.
Two mutant KotS members are spotted pushing wheel-barrels full of what you suspect to be some sort of designer drug in a general access tunnel less than a mile from the church. Your robot manages to get the drop on the gangsters, and manages to kill both of them before they have a chance to draw their weapons or Pokemon. Deciding that mutant corpses have a bit more practical use than a wheel-barrel full of drugs, you have Argus drag them back; leaving the goods behind.
Doug Vincent helps you bring the new cadavers to the freezer, and while he works, you mention the wheel-barrel to him. He pays you cash for the lead, and leaves the base to collect and sell the drugs elsewhere.

You fetch a Pikachu from storage, and spend the afternoon trying to trick it into liking you. Sadly the little rodent has no intention to play nice, and your session is interrupted by frequent trips to the Medical Office to treat paralysis and shock damage. On the last such trip you find Susan working hard to save a critically injured Dr. Gonzalez. It would seem that the Excadrill from yesterday had returned and attacked the researcher, ruining the lab once more. You sigh and conclude that you will not be getting any research done today.
With research out of the question, you spend the rest of the day with Pikachu, but when the sun goes down, it still hates your guts. You wish Vincent didn't take so long with his drug dealing; he could have been helpful.

Doug:
You luck out. It would seem that Clara has had no training whatsoever for her current situation, and starts singing like a bird as soon as you get her into the interrogation room.
She doesn't know much about Virgil's agenda at large, but when you bring up the President General's estate she mentions that Virgil had been trying to get her to hack the Cameras in his art gallery. "I think he is after some of the swagtastic artifacts Mr. President General keeps in there."
Clara also unveils a bit of additional information unprompted. "Yeah. I managed to pwn that n00b Sami. I made override remotes for both Argus and the APC and gave them to Virgil. Him or any of his top lieutenants could turn those machines against you if they can get within 100 meters... Have fun with that."

Satisfied with the results of the interogation you head deep into the tunnel systems in search of Septicslums. You find the underground settlement easily enough.
An establishment called 'The Ball-gag and Chain' quickly catches you attention. You enter, assuming that it is a place for you to pursue your... recreational interests, only to discover that it is an unofficial Pokemon Center and Gym for trainers who prefer to control their Pokemon through intimidation and cruelty.
You prove that you belong by beating the crap out of your Rhyhorn, and they photograph you for a membership card. Now a member, you are free to use the experts and facilities of The Ball-gag and Chain as you see fit!

You now have access to the expert trainers at the Ball-gag and Chain. They can use the Mentor Maneuver Latent Potential on your Pokemon for 3000py. Doing this counts as 1/2 of a feature use forum action.

It is difficult to keep track of time underground where the sun don't shine. By the time you finish chatting up the boys at your new Dojo (and getting some of their numbers) it is rather late. You have to abandon your plans to cross the island and visit Burnout Flats and return to base.

You get up at the crack of dawn and start the long trek down to the Barren Peninsula. Upon arriving at the community you start asking around for a focus.
It would seem that it is your lucky day, as the remaining guards are getting new gear from Toe, and one of them is more than willing to give you his old Focus. You thank him, check in on the orphans for a bit, and then begin the long trek to the downtown area.

You have no trouble talking your way into the Von Streak compound. The guards hear a Romanian accent and quickly come to the assumption that you are somebody of some importance within the JS. You give them your name, but don't bother to correct them. Several minutes later you are ushered into Vladimir Von Streak's chamber.
The lights in the chamber are dim, and a fog machine is working somewhere to add to the air of mystery. Still, the Crobat Mutant's aura sticks out like a sore thumb on his throne. It is a dark blackish purple glow, swift and fluid, reeking of class and refinement, and containing perhaps the slightest hint of wickedness.
"Do remind me to punish the guards for not cross referencing the names of my guests with the names of known WPSF agents on this island... that aside, what can I do for you Mr. Constantine?"
You explain the situation. How you rescued Afina from death by fire, but because the truce had not yet happened you were forced to take her prisoner. How a chance exists to hurt Virgil's plans, and how Afina's release could be ensured should he choose to provide the manpower to exploit said chance.
Vladimir falls silent to consider your offer. He takes a deep and dramatic swig from a chalice of red liquid and then speaks. "Very well. Since it seems like one of those tasks that not even an idiot could screw up, I will send my brother Peter and his men. Do tell Lady Dobre that her parents are quite concerned about her, and send their affection her way."
With that, Vladimir gives a curt nod and his guards escort you from the facility.

Llewyn:
You dive into the ocean and begin to explore the depths just offshore from base. The sea is calm today. It is also shallow, so the sandy bottom is still rather well illuminated. You wander aimlessly for a few hours, trying your best to enjoy yourself.
Eventually you come across a strange sight, a half constructed skyscraper starting from the ocean floor. After circling it a few times, you enter through an open window on the second floor. Despite having an open window underwater, the inside of the building is miraculously completely dry.
The geometry and architecture in here is strange. It reminds you of that library in the water dungeon, which in turn depressingly reminds you Alexis.
-He was a decent person, wasn't he?-
You spin around and find yourself face to face with a strange Clefable. The Pokemon is blue, has gills, and what seems to be jellyfish like stingers streaming behind it.
-He was a bit too human for my liking though. If it was up to me I'd rather he stay dead. But his plan is a good one.-
Anger and confusion flares up inside you, but the Pokemon just smirks. -It does have a hole in it though. A glaring hole. For Helm to perform the ritual required, he needs to control the Ancient Binding Grounds, which is downtown. In Kings Turf. The so called 'First church of Kyogre' will need a mighty powerful distraction to stop the gangbanger human garbage from messing them up while they do their work.-
The Clefable touches your forhead with it's palm. Words flow into your head... a mission briefing. Along with the words comes an even greater resentment of the Kings and Virgil; you want to be angry with the Pokemon for messing with your head, but the hatred is just too cathartic for you to condemn or reject in your current state of mind. -Write those words on the job board. Don't change a letter. Do this, and your destiny will be one step closer.-
With that the creature seems to vanish, and you head home more than a little freaked out.

Back at base you decide to cool down by having a chat with the newest prisoner. Clara clearly is in a bit over her head, and you have no trouble getting her to sing like a bird.
"Virgil dosn't stay in one place very often, so there are no fancy security systems watching him. Before y'all got me however, I was building Vanderbilt an army of droids to supplement the troops at his disposal. Virgil might not be big on holding his turf down, but Doug sure is."
You also get Clara to name Vanderbilts head of security. You jot that information down and post it on the bullitin board in the section 'Of Interest to Doug'.

Susan:
You break up another fight between Carlos and John O'Neil over breakfast. Although this has become so commonplace by now that it wouldn't normally be worth mentioning, the Irishman gives you some helpful information when you drag him to his room and engage him in a conversation while you wait for him to cool down.
"Your going treasure hunting downtown, eh sawbones? Tell you what, why don't you keep an eye out for a Dr. Beverly Horace? She used to be one of my old clients. I'll bet she still has all sorts of cool medical and scientific supplies I found 'er in the dungeons."
Thanking O'Neil for the tip, you hit the town and are quickly directed to a cafe that Dr. Horace frequents. You wait until lunchtime, and sure enough somebody matching her description shows up. Striking up a conversation with her, you learn that Dr. Horace does indeed have some old trinkets from the dungeon, and would be willing to consider parting with some of them for the right price.
After much unsuccessful haggling back and forth the subject of Pokemon is eventually brought up. When Beverly learns of Trellis she suddenly gives a smile that is uncomfortably close in nature to your own. "That is just peeeeerfect. I need to run some beta tests of a new product on Grass Type Pokemon. I don't have one myself, or I'd use mine. Just come to the lab with me, let me mess around with Trellis a bit, take notes on how badly the side effects mess with her, and I'll let you pick something cool out of my toybox? Sound like a deal?"

After dealing with Beverly's offer, one way or another, you return to base for some research of your own. Knowing that Carlos needs some notes on human anatomy you drag Gene Wilder out from prision, drug him, and put him on the slab for a bit of jiggery pokery.
About 15 minutes into the procedure the ground shakes, and the Excadrill from yesterday bores through the floor. You send out Atlas to drive it off, but before the Swampert can act the mole Pokemon nails Carlos with a powerful supper effective X-Scissor attack. The mutant professor crumples to the ground nearly dead.
Thinking quickly you order Atlas to stay back and fight the intruder while you drag your lover to the Medbay. You spend the next hour or so stabilizing Carlos, before you feel that it is safe to return to the lab and survey the damage. The place is trashed again, and so is Rik's workstation. To make matters worse your subject has bled out on the table.
Channeling Atlas you learn that the Swampert was able to gain the upper hand in the fight, but that the intruder once again escaped by burrowing through the solid catacomb floor.
You conclude that with the equipment damaged, and you not willing to clear Carlos to return to work just yet, no further science will occur today.
