Susan looked down. "There are a few. The first is that we might be able to count on their aid against the other factions here on Port Cane, which we really need. Look at us, Sami. There's only, what, ten of us here at this base? Six agents - one of whom doesn't do any fieldwork - the twins, Faust, and Carlos. Lucy, if you want to count her, but I think most of us would rather not get her involved past paperwork. We need all the allies we can get right now - at the very least, we don't need more enemies than we can handle. If any of the factions decide we're a threat, they can easily wipe us out. As good as we are, we can't handle entire armies. I for one do not wish or intend to die in a blaze of glory any time soon."
She looked at Sami. "The second is that mole. We might not be able to stop them from getting that research - or any we've done so far, for that matter - until we know who it is, how much they know, what they're capable of, and what to do with them. If we go with my plan, we at least have a chance of getting something out of them taking it... because I don't trust the JS not getting a hold of it somehow. Bloody hell, for all I know the mainland UC already have M.E.E. data and they're just asking for it from us now to see if we'll keep our word. And speaking of, I already told you why not to alter the main contents of the data; they probably know we have it, and that it works. If they can't replicate the results themselves they'll either suspect something or become outright hostile. I feel it's best that we placate them until we can do a little housecleaning."
Rags looked around. "Third and selfishly, I do believe you owe me quite a sum of cash. This can be considered clearing your debt." She looked at her hands. "You know me. I wouldn't do anything to endanger us. Please believe me when I say that I want to keep us alive until we get reassigned."
