"...I see, sort of. I suppose a non-gifted person such as myself wouldn't ever be able to really understand," Rags said with a sigh. "Still, it is interesting. So you can channel any pokemon you meet. Are there certain similarities between types? What I mean to ask is, I'm aware that, say, Trellis and Sunny have different personalities and are different species, but they're both Grass slash Poison types... so when you connect to them, would there be a similar sort of feel to their... auras?" Susan said, fizzling out slightly near the end. She knew what she meant to ask, but it was hard to find the appropriate terms. She'd never really dealt with the psychic realm of things before.

"Well, there are similarities between species, but I've never noticed a similarity between types other than with ghost types, though that's probably because I'm more familiar with them than I am with other types," Lucian says, "hm, the best way to put it is to think of a heart meter in a hospital, all ghosts are flatlines while other pokemon have the little 'blips'. The only instance that isn't the case is with synced pokemon, as far as I've noticed the 'blibs' are muted, but not gone," he pauses, "let me try something," he says, letting out his Yanma and Woobat, then channeling them, "hey guys, just checking something really quick," he says, both physically and mentally.

After a moment of just analyzing them, he nods, "there is something there, but it's hard to find. It wouldn't be useful for identifying them without being able to analyze their auras for a while, and it's subtle, easy to miss," he shakes his head, "It could come in handy though, I'll need to look into it," he says, flashing a smile at Susan, "thanks for that, if you hadn't asked I probably would have never noticed that." He turns to the woobat and yanma, he really needed to give them a name, "why don't you two take some time to relax? Just stay nearby okay?"

Susam smiled, sharing the simple pleasure of making a new scientific discovery with someone. "Of course. I'm happy to be of assistance, Mr. Constantine. So, your ability only applies to pokemon, correct?" She thought for a few moments. "I wonder what's so different about their minds from, say, a human or a pet's, that you can link to them in this way. I was originally going to theorize intelligence - pokemon are as a rule not as smart as humans but smarter than many animals - but then I remembered that the Abra species - like the specimen Miss Taiya has - are supposed to be of human intelligence or greater. Especially so as they evolve. And some pokemon are dumber than rocks, such as the Slow line. I suppose it's just one of those things science can't explain." She sighed, slightly disappointed by that.

"I take it you're a rookie of the WPSF too, to pull this assignment. Where did you train at?" she asked.

(I kind of want to ask Lucian about Romania, but since most of the Judetal Sugar are from there, there'd have to be some GM intervention or informing or so forth going on... so I won't. :P And if you want to ask her anything, go ahead. ^^^)

"Actually, I think it has to do with the way the mind works, rather than how intelligent they are, pokemon often view things very differently from humans, it may also be the way their minds develop," Lucian says, then smiles, "it's nice talking to someone that's not all about the spirit," he says, "most of the people back home were more about faith than science, thought with their hearts rather than with their heads and put a little too much into faith."

"And I trained in Romania," he says in regard to where he was trained, "not exactly the best place to get into this sort of thing, really. I left for Italy after my introductory training and finished my training there. How about you?"

(You'll have to work for that one, Lucian's a little guarded about specifics for his hometown.)

"I did my boot camp training in Britain. Until we came here to the tropics, I had never left the country." She adjusted her hat slightly to get the sun out of her eyes. "I did that at Fort Henry under Sergeant Wallace. A right bastard - pardon my French - but a very good and thorough soldier. He certainly whipped me into shape, and I'm all the better for it." She decided to change the subject slightly, and perhaps get to know Lucian better. "So far all we've really talked about are our jobs and what we can do. Normally I wouldn't mind keeping things on a strictly professional basis such as that, but I have the feeling we're going to be working together on this assignment for quite awhile. So... are there any books you like?" she asked, keeping it simple for now.

Each action point may be used to attempt one action on the forums between sessions. Action points do not rollover, and are lost if not used. You may only attempt each action once per forum turn, unless it has more than one skill you can roll for it, in which case you must roll a different skill check each time.

Edro, you will have to edit your action a bit.

---

Also Tar, its unlikely the mutants donated by the PCNA have too many dark secrets, unless it is noted they were affiliated with a faction. I'm not saying that you can't do it, but you might not get a whole lot out of devoting two actions to investigating Mark.

---

Kuji, could you lock and roll later this evening after Edro fixes his post? Since we ain't playing tomorrow, I should be able to do a turn tomorrow or Monday.

I already editted my post to use different skills, Kuji made note of it to me a few days ago and hasn't objected to the change I made.

"Any book by Tamora Pierce, she's my all time favorite author. She takes the mystical, and turns it into a science, something few authors tend to do, and she uses mainly female main characters with intricate character development. I'd recommend Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen for you in particular, main character is the daughter of a spy master and the king's champion who was sold as a slave, I won't say more than that, but it's a good read. If you want something more magic themed, the Circle of Magic and The Circle Opens Quartets are good, and if you prefer the knight in shining armor one, I'd go with the Protector of the Small quartet," Lucian was obviously an avid fan of books, "I also enjoy the Inheritance Cycle series, I'm in the middle of the last book now, in fact."

(Note, that is a real book and that is my actual opinion)

(I believe I've read Tamora Pierce. I don't remember the name of the set Susan's going to be mentioning but I think the title I listed it as is correct. It's about Alanna, anyway.

PPE: I've looked it up, and yeah that's correct. ^^^ Also, for sake of honesty, Rags's opinions in this post might just be mine as well. :P)

"...Didn't she also write the Song Of the Lioness quartet?" Susan asked. "It's about a pair of magically-inclined twins - well, more about the girl of the pair, Alanna, and how she switches places with her brother to become a knight since women aren't allowed to do that. There's a lot more to it than that, of course, but that's pretty much the first chapter of the first book. I won't ruin the rest for you. As for myself, I used to be an avid reader in my youth. I would read pretty much anything by anyone." She shrugged.

"I've sort of phased out Stephen King from my list after the disappointment that was the Dark Tower series, which in my opinion went completely downhill at about the time of Wizard & Glass. I still read Dean Koontz occasionally, mostly just whenever a new Odd Thomas book comes out. I've most of Piers Anthony's Xanth series, although I haven't kept up with it as much as I have Terry Pratchett's Discworld. I also appreciate the majority of Diana Wynne Jones's catalog. And I'm not ashamed to admit that when I was small I had quite the appetite for R.L. Stine's Goosebumps series. As for the classics, I've read a few, like Huckleberry Finn, but the majority of them don't really appeal to me."

"Then you'll like the Trickster Series, Alianne, the main character, is Alanna's daughter, though you'll need to read the Wild Magic Quartet and Protector of the Small Quartet first. They come before it. I made the mistake of reading the Trickster Series first, I can actually lend them to you if you'd like. I've read a few of the Piers Anthony books, though I was much younger at the time and don't remember as much as I would like. I never really got into Steven King's books either."

Douglas Wert touched down at approximately 0700, taking a needed nap on the ship that took him there. After bidding the various fu- former crew mates farewell, he went into base, observing what everyone else was doing and the situation at large. After a while, he sighed, got his initiation training (note to self: how great are mutants in bed?) and set off.

First, he followed Niko, only piping up when he notices Doug. "Didn't they teach you to teach with others?" A smirk escaped his lips when he checked Niko out, but it quickly became a frown. "Too skinny. Ah well, I'll teach with ya." He takes out his Rhyhorn and Timburr, both unnamed, before uncoiling his whip. He meant business. (Pokemon Training, Rhyhorn 10, Timburr 10, one injury to each)

Later, Doug was called up. This Sami girl wanted to interrogate someone, even though there was a good chance of not gaining any more worthwhile information. As such, only his presence was needed while Sami did her job. A quick look at Sami made him chuckle. "You like the robots, huh? Wonder what else you made for yourself." he mused, chuckling to himself. When it came to the actual interrogation, though, he just stood there, looking menacing, as Sami probed him for information. Though to be honest, Mark would probably make a good bedmate. (Help Sami with Interrogation, using Intimidate)

Finally, Doug met the other two trainees, who were exploring the Sands together. He dashed towards them, as he was late and he missed the conversation. Checking them out, he made a discovery. "Ugh, they put me here because there's no one actually hot in this squad." Taking a second glance at Rags, though, maybe there was hope after all. "...except you. You look like the type to have fun. How about after this scouting out we head towards the back, huh?" (Exploring the Tropical Sands, using Athletics)

All actions locked, except if Ger wants to add any more Pokemon to his list/designate who's getting the injury.

Before Doug showed up

"You're not missing a whole lot, then. King is a good but highly overrated author, but all of his best work is back when he was younger. His newer stuff just isn't as good. I suppose all artists - in a manner of speaking - tend to wear themselves down over the years. Xanth is pretty good, but it can get pretty punny. Piers's other books tend to range from really good to really bad." She took off her hat, adjusted the inside of it, and put it back on. "If I get the opportunity I might see if I can find some of those books you recommended."

After Doug showed up

But before she could say much more, an odd man showed up, sounding disgusted about his fellow squadmates, and proceeded to hit on her with somehow even less subtlety than Brandon Dickens had had. She blinked. "Pardon me? Uh, who are you?"

Doug smirked. "Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Douglas Wert, the newest recruit here for the WPSF, apparently. I'm you new squadmate. I specialize in interrogation, but they made me introduce myself to everyone else. Therefore, I'm with you right now."

Rags pushed her hair back over her shoulders nervously. "Right. Well then. I'm Susannah Traverse, the team medic. This Mr. Lucian Constantine. We were just, er, patrolling this Tropical Sands area." Although Douglas was very straightforward and large enough that she felt somewhat unnerved by his presence - additionally, he felt a little dangerous (since he's a Brutal Strategist/Lasher after all :P) - she felt it would be impolite to not at least extend an offer to come with them. "Would you like to join us?"
