For those who don't know, Dark Heresy is a Tabletop Role Playing Game that is set within the Warhammer 40,000 universe. You take the role of Acolytes, servants of the Inquisition that root out heresy and corruption within all levels of society and all manner of worlds. You go on missions at the behest of your Inquisitor and perhaps, one day, you may earn your own Inquisitorial Rosette. Players of all levels are allowed, even those who have never played Dark Heresy.

Background:
Gabriel is a veteran guardsman. At the age of seventeen, the planet he lived on was in the path of an Ork Waaagh! His city was defended by two regiments of Imperial Guard and unlike most of the other citys on the planet his withstood the green tide. The guardsmen suffered huge losses and the remnants were forced to draft the civilians, including Gabriel. He was proud to serve though, as his father had died defending the city.
He discovered, much to the joy of his new commander, that he was a natural born soldier and distinguished himself in that final battle. When his squad was cut off and his sergeant killed he rallied his squad and held a city block against many times their number of orks until they were saved by the Astartes, descending from the sky like angels of vengeance. From that moment on he was a guardsman.
He has served for 8 years but never been promoted owing to a rather poor attitude and a general hatred towards orks that led to excessive strongheadedness whenever he was facing orks.

Background:
Allion was born on a horrifically polluted forge world. From his first breath, Allion fought for survival as the gaseous elements produced by the foundries and chemical plants of the Mechanicus ate away at his lungs. Through sheer chance, said by some to be the providence of the Omnissiah, Allion was selected and taken from his parents to be used to test a piece of medical archeotech recovered from a ruin on the fringe of the Imperium. His wasted lungs were restored to the amazement of the tech-priests present. As per the attitude of the Mechanicus to individuals, Allion was thrown out into the refuse heap and left to survive on his own. At eight Terran years old, Allion was all alone. Over five years, Allion lived alone and on the move, scavenging what he could while trying to find his parents and his home. Three weeks after his thirteenth birthday Allion returned home. To find a colossal foundry built over it and his family as working slaves in it's bowels. Seeing the horrors of this life, Allion swore revenge on the uncaring and cold Mechanicus for both his treatment at their hands and his family's. Over four days Allion crept into the heart of the foundry until he located the head tech-priest, cutting his head off with a large shiv made of scrap.
The Inquisition were suitably impressed that a thirteen year old boy was able to infiltrate an Adeptus Mechanicus facility and then assassinate the Magos Prime. He was spirited away under the guise of execution and began his training.

Background: The Schola Progenum of the Streuss system was a secretive academy. Like all Scholas, its purpose was to train those who would make the Imperium function, or die trying. However, this academy was slightly...different from the Scholas. It offered a slightly...edited curriculum, namely the education of the alien. Their languages, their culture, belief and technology, learn by loyal humans in service for the Emperor. If any fool had exposed the Streuss Schola's eccentric teachings, then all alumni and staff would have quickly been branded heretics. In this academy, Lyssian was raised. Her mother was a lowly cleaner at the academy, sweeping the halls and washing the unmentionables. Even with such lowly status, her daughter, Lyssia, had been allowed the education as part of a old favour. Lyssia strived to become the equals of the grand academy. As a female of Streuss, she had always been considered lesser; only men had the ability to serve the Imperium or perform anything of importance. And so, she underwent the tried and true tradition of itru, or becoming a man through action. And so the young Lyssia became Lyssian and strode around with robe and trousers. And yet the ridicule continued, clearly the only way to become better was to surpass the men. She trained through the days and nights, either spending days in the libarium or training facilities, always improving. And so she worked, and trained and studied. And eventually, she surpassed the men. On that moment of triumph, she hoped to become even more: a direct child of the Emperor. A space marine. Her peers and teachers were in shock and pity, for no woman could become one. Upon learning that, she did not huddle and cry, but did the next best thing and joined the Sororitas. In the order, she too trained to be the greatest in mind and body. Even so, her soul was never the purest. She still harboured the...unorthodox teachings of Struess; she thought it foolish to simply ignore the advancements of the xeno and idiotic to kill them on sight. No; they should be harvested of their technology and made subservient to man, she had always thought. Such problems never came up in a practice however, so her heresy lays undiscovered.

Bio: Once a butler in the service of a high-ranking noble family, Mister Hurk's orderly, well-mannered life was thrown into disarray when said family were arrested due to the patriarch's suspected involvement with a group of Cold Traders. Bernant was allowed to go free, of course, as anyone knows "The butler didn't do it"! So he was cast out onto the streets of Hilarion, directionless and in dire need of something to do. He prefers to take orders, you see... Years of practice.
Whatever nasty business he gets up to, Mister Hurk retains a polite, businesslike manner and strives to keep his associates from any unnecessary violence. However, he also strives to keep himself fed, drunk and clothed in the finest outfits- and if this means nicking the occasional bit of silverware, so-be-it. He has to eat too, you know!

Background: Reduced to life as one of many nameless, feral orphans after a Manufactorum explosion killed her parents, Alba spent much of her formative years scrounging to survive in the labyrinthine depths of her home Forge World, navigating tangles of wires and mazes of machinery with an intuitive grace, and sometimes inadvertently fixing things as she went, though she didn't then realize the significance of her actions. It was thus that a Reclaimator of the Adeptus Mechanicus found her- naming her Alba for the surprisingly clean rags she wore- and took her under his wing, introducing her to Mechanicus culture and religion (though not quite to the Mechanicus as a whole), and to the Machine Spirits that lived and worked around them.
For a while, she served happily as a cog in the Mechanicus' manufactorum with her mentor, repairing and refurbishing worn and injured machines, and (often unhappily) helping reclaim those that could not be saved. Unfortunately, as she grew in knowledge and independence, Alba and her mentor grew apart, as he associated himself with increasingly shady personalities, and became more cruel and flippant towards the machines he'd taught her to honor and revere.
When he inevitably fell off the deep end and became a Heretek, dedicating himself to the Ruinous Power of Tzeentch, she knew what she had to do- and when the cult, having sabotaged the manufactorum, gathered to perform their Daemon summoning, she sprung her own trap, bathing the room in cleansing flame from a nearby jury-rigged blast furnace.
When Adeptus Mechanicus troops arrived to investigate the incident, they found a strange, panicked little girl in stolen and cut-down Enginseer robes attempting to soothe the present machine spirits while sweeping ashes into a warp rift- which raised quite a few eyebrows in both the Mechanicus and the Inquisition. A couple years after her interrogation and official induction into the Mechanicus, she's just barely scraped by the requisite 7000-question exam to become a Mechanicus Techsorcist.

Bio:
Raised and born in a relatively ordered society, Aria was one of the last vestiges of home Mira could remember in all her years as an Imperial Guardsman. Her home, a sanctum and a trove of knowledge in the ancient arts of yore, a distant memory now, only remembered by the weapons in her hands and the sigil on her shoulder.
Conscripted into the I.G. after serving in the planetary defense forces, she proved herself through the struggle of hard work in showing her prowess of service and competence. Bringing an attitude of camaraderie and teamwork, she is a devout believer in the Emperor and will not stand for any deviance in his name.

Background: Messaria IV was one of the worlds which had long lost contact with the rest of humanity. Isolated from other worlds and with little in the way of supplies and technology, it did not take long for it to revert into a feudal system - powerful lords and few kingdoms waging war upon each other for the land and influence, their armies and warriors making use of primitive weaponry. Settlements, castles, burgs and massive farmlands were the only signs of human life in the planet, otherwise taken by the rich natural environment.
Orders of knights were major actors in the war scenario, their leaders controlling heavily-armored troops which from time to time still carried relics of other ages - bolt pistols, chainswords and plasma weaponry - into combat. Their heavy plate armor was sometimes assisted with simple mechanisms that mimicked the complex electronic machinery that empowered suits of power armor, the technology long lost in Messaria IV.
The Selescan was one of the Knightly Orders, their might a reference and their treasury always well-supplied with a reasonable amount of "artifacts" that gave their warriors an edge on top of their harsh training. Their sets of armor were masterwork pieces and finely-crafted swords made of alloys more resilient than steel usually made a couple with the bolt pistols their warriors carried into battle. Their banner - red tribal shapes surrounding an eye over a field of white or black - stood proudly atop a large amount of castles and any settlements protected by them. The image itself inspired fear and defended locations from attack of raiders.
But the nobles' fiefs and games of power were theoretically put to an end when the Imperium rediscovered the planet. In less than a century, the feudal world had power lines and cities spread across its surface, lost equipments and technology once again part of Messaria IV's routine...At least for the higher-born citizens and better-positioned common folk, which now inhabited the rapidly-expanding masses of gray that occupied spaces once deserted or taken by nature. Several nobles and kings were taken down almost immediately for being reactionary to the establishment of the Truth of the Emperor, and several more were hunted down by the more cunning individuals that saw in the new order of powers a chance to soar higher than they ever had.
Most knightly orders came out on top during the transition, and the House of Selescan was not an exception: they maintained their seat as an influential institution, their arms still long and reaching, although now they worked for the emissaries of the Imperium. Their now outdated medieval plate armor wasn't put to waste, no. The lower-tier members of the order maintained the heavy metal plate armor - if now and then with some new mechanisms, colors and adaptations for the new imperial reality added - and almost the same set of weapons they used before the transition.
Lemanov Selescan was born in these times of change as one of the many children of the organization's heads and trained by the House. Young, he already faced combat in the streets and fields of Messaria IV due to the new games of powers of the nobility, but he is still seen as unproven and needing in experience even if promising by the knightly order.
He was called forth from the ranks of the newly-made knights to be sent in a mission important to the Imperium, which he accepted without any questions, his belief in loyalty and focus on duty above all speaking higher than any possibility of fear of the unknown and mysterious space that dominates most of his homeworld's population. Due to the missions he was sent on as a rookie, he wakes up easily and occasionally has trouble sleeping anywhere but on the ground. In armor.
Description: Lemanov is a tall and moderately strong young man, with curly light brown hair and amber eyes complimenting a slightly angular face. He is determined and used to wearing heavy armor and "primitive" weaponry, his body taking well to the heavy plate his order usually dons.

Description:
Argia is a fit, tan woman who was fortunate enough to be born with black hair, a rarity on her home planet. She wears coloured contact lenses, as having one of the 'base colours' is considered low-class. Her family is built on the backs of serfs, owning the mining facilities that produce ore so that the Imperium may prosper and triumph. She was drawn into the service of the Inquisition not because of some unlikely or dangerous occurance, but because it is custom on her planet for the third child of a noble family to seek the position of an Acolyte (thought to succeed in such a thing is rare indeed).
