Programming ideas
« on: November 12, 2012, 06:24:45 pm »

Well, I've done it again: I'm bored. What should I program?

I would like programming ideas I could do in a week or so: nothing too fancy. I certainly also enjoy programming games (though I am not able to do too much in the way of graphics). I also may not choose to do your idea; depends on what catches my fancy.

Complete:
1. Evolution Simulator
2. Insult generator
3. Beast generator

random social damacheckers, you get on a web page, a damacheckers board is loaded and you have to take one move. then the board is stored and you get another random board.

when the board is closed eveyone having ad a move of the winning team gets a point.

Funny, I had a similar idea a long time ago: an online chess app where people vote on the next move.

anyways, just realized you asked for something you could program in a week. why don't you make a game focused on forces (compression, tension, torsion, etc.) alot of math involved, but im sure it'd be awesome. Wouldn't have to be particularly advanced.

How about we program something that mathematically determines how a creature would evolve, and what abilities/spells it should gain?

How about a MUD that takes place in an office building?

You can be anything from an executive to engineer to middle management to secretary to copier guy. You can do things like go about your work day, gossip at the watercooler or assemble office supplies into a working trebuchet and declare war on Human Resources.

Okay, I made an evolution simulator. (I started Friday the 16th, and wasn't around this weekend, so took me a bit less than a week.) It has dominant and recessive traits, random mutation, and some other features I can't be bothered to mention.
