This game.

"I tried to grant my Dwarves a quick death, but instead they died of thirst while zombie ravens slowly pecked out their eyeballs."
"Awww... (You were inefficient!)"

"I built a drowning chamber to kill all the children in my fortress."
"lol post more! (I am impressed!)"

I think the answer is simple. Cannon fodder. How else are you going to fill up your coffins?

Easy. Injure the dwarves and have your Chief Medical Doctor, preferably named "House or "Bones", patch them up and gain skill.

Injuries that keep them from their jobs, therefore inconvienencing me...

Those dwarves or elves are fed to the vampiric population. Aka, sent to the hospital, where I send my vampires to 'dine'.

Does this make me a bad overseer?

Cassandra likes elves for their taste, Cobalt for it's pretty colors, and kittens for their cute intentions. She is incredibly strong, but horribly unlucky, and speaks with a rasping accent. She is white with black eyes. She likes dwarves for their hilarious intentions.

Literally. Get them to drwabridge and launch at oncoming invaders!
Bonus points for their torn limbs launched with them!

The first small thing that made me feel awesome was my indoor waterfall. A few minutes later though, it started flooding my fort so I felt less awesome.
