No Immigrants, Only Babies?
« on: November 11, 2012, 12:50:17 am »

Is there a setting somewhere I can use to disable migrants, so that the only way to expand a fort is through offspring from the original 7 dwarves?

Setting pop cap to 1 and putting up with first two (hard-coded ) migrant waves and hoping the liasion notice the overpopulation.

The pop cap's in init_d.txt!

Oh yeah... I forgot about the 2 mandatory ones.

Thanks for the info though! :D

EDIT: One question; by setting the base Pop cap to 1, wouldn't that restrict how many babies are born too? Or are babies completely different from the "Population Cap" defaulted to 200?

It's different, and also editable in d_init, right below the normal popcap.

Hi!

I always play with Pop cap 7 (works the same as 1), and babies are born nonetheless as babies are controlled entirely by the baby pop cap. Base pop cap only influences migration.

Baby cap's below the pop cap, I think default is 1000% population and around 100 babies cap.

I usually reduces the percentage to 10%, which's more reasonable, child-wise, particularly with migrant children now.
