LCS non juicers can recruit for juicers
« on: November 10, 2012, 07:01:42 pm »

My starting gang has no skill in persuasion.

One of the sweatshop workers we acquired has OK persuasion but is not somebody who would normally be getting juice.

It'd be handy if that sweatshop worker were able to go out and recruit on behalf of gang members who are getting plenty of juice.

Is this an idea worth pursuing?

I'm pretty sure you can re-arrange the chain of command in LCS so that recruited members are in contact with your high juice people, essentially freeing up a recruit slot for the sweatshop worker again.

Unless I somehow horribly misunderstand how it works because it's been a while since I last played LCS.

Holy schist, this thread is mica me sick.
DF Players never truly leave.  They just abandon the fortress for a few years and then reclaim.

You need a 50 juice "seed" to start this. I'm pretty sure you can just break and steal to get there, though.

I tried to play chess but two of my opponents were playing competitive checkers as a third person walked in with Game of Thrones in hand confused cause they thought this was the book club.

It's far easier to just give your sweatshop worker a spraycan, have them spray a "safe" location, like the Vegan Co-op, then spraypaint another "safe" location, like the Juice Bar.  Once you're repainted these locations green, you should have almost 50 juice.  If not, spray up the Homeless Shelter.

Thank you for explaining that use of the chain of command, Julius, I hadn't thought of it and it's crazy helpful. The chain of command screen has been kind of intimidating for me...

If you want to avoid getting your persuader in too deep with the law (and the death squads aren't about), you can use the "activate liberals" activities to juice them up to 50 instead - liberal disobedience and, once that runs out, painting murals won't rack up charges except one at a time if you get caught, as I understand it. A quick graffiti raid for 50 juice will leave them with many counts of vandalism and liable to go down for many months if they ever get arrested : (

Thanks for the tip about rearranging the chain of command, I'll try that next game!  What I was missing -- and I'm kicking myself for it now because it's obvious (in retrospect) is needing the persuader to at least be able to recruit *somebody* to get the thing started. (Duh...)

While I'm aware it's fairly trivial to juice anyone up to 200 by nicking stuff I'm more attracted to playing the game with very specialized roles and targeted goals.  As a new player one of the pitfalls for me has been starting off liberal viruses which get big pretty quick -- which is fine, seems logical and is probably a valid way to play but the degree of management needed to control more than thirty or forty seems to me onerous and a turnoff.

Hopefully this fixes that.  Thanks again :)

It used to be that there were no recruitment limits at all; one of the reasons this changed was to force you to slow down recruiting and actually play the game with the characters you've brought on board before you can continue to expand.

In my last game my organization got quite huge... I had two main bases, each filled with dedicated, heavily armed and armoured defenders who could fight off any sieges as soon as they arrived, saving me the trouble of re-activating everyone. I wanted to expand out to more bases, but there were none... And then the game ended. :-[
