Reload my pistol then draw the second one, wait for the others to move forward then bring up the rear and watch our backs.

"How interesting... It is good you've managed to recover one of them intact" Serris stated with a hint of menace, but soon resigned his tone "Although it would be best if I postponed a full autopsy until we're out of danger, it would still no doubt be to our advantage to investigate..."

Serris placed his tablet aside, picking up tools to take apart the subject's suit and Investigate the body, trying to discover its relation to the pink substance

Roll 11

Gideon couldn't recall having ever met aliens in his life. The dead soldier sounded human and spoke a human language, though. He really didn't want to pull the helmet off now that Serris found out it was corrosive, but he wondered if it was possible that the Solar System had been invaded by aliens while he was gone.
"Wait a minute, what year is it?"
"2842..." said the doctor while his back was turned. Serris had gone back to observing the sample.

[3] Gideon tenuously extended his time-lock to the body, at an increased Psi cost per turn.

...

Maximilian started shouting into his communicator, switching into every frequency he could. There was still no response.
[3] He knew where they were, though, so he planned to come up to them after the conversation was over and help Aldarist teach them a lesson. As he thought, however, he realized that his knowledge was no matching up to his memories. He was visualizing the patrol walking, when he had never seen them since their first departure.
Perhaps his powers were coming back to him; he hadn't found a use for them since he fled Canis Majoris as they were too dangerous to use around people. He had to control them... before something happened again.

Aldarist looked at him and asked, "You wanna go?"
"Let's do it. Jacob, are you coming with us?"
"Why yes of course. I want to test this suit"
"Don't shoot them unless they're traitors."
"I'm sure they are. Anything else would be a stretch to believe."

Max wasn't familiar with Jacob. He had been on the Sundawn's last few voyages along with Serris and Aldarist--and he hated Aldarist--but Jacob was new on the ship. He wondered what happened to the ship's old engineer, Mrs. Faulkner.

...

Jacob checked on the drone's cameras through his visor. The transmission stated that the security personnel had a robot following behind them, and Jacob had programmed the drone to do so.
[2] The camera feed indicated that the drone wasn't moving, and all Jacob saw through it was an empty hallway. He took out his remote controller for the drone and swivelled the camera around on its mount. The drone was alone in a hallway--not following anyone.
"Guys, my drone isn't with them. Something isn't right."

...

Serris picked up the body along with Gideon and set it on an operating table. Handing Gideon as mask and putting one on himself, he took out his drill, armor saw, and began to work.
The inside of the helmet had two tubes that went into the subject's nose. The subject was, as far as they could tell, human. The respirator had stopped circulating pink gas after the soldier died, but there was residue all over the man's face. It was starting to eat into his skin--which made Serris wonder how this stuff could be inhaled through the nose. He had to dig deeper. Putting on thicker gloves this time, he began to look for physical augmentations of any sort. While they were rare due to medical complications, augments were not unheard of. Serris expected to find some kind of tubing in the nasal passages, but instead he found a normal human airway with one exception: There was an additional passage leading from the beginning of the trachea into part of the brain.

Gideon thought.
"That long? A lot must've changed in that time.. But I'll continue where i left off... namely bringing righteous justice to the evil. But for now, i'm curious about this.."

Gideon said.
"What if we stimulate the brain with the pink goo?"

Gideon looked at the small flying body of pink goo.

"I could carefully force it inside, maybe we'll get some sort of response. Something in the lines of brain activity.

What do you think?"

IF Serris agrees, carefully manipulate the pink goo into the brain. Otherwise just observe.

"Perplexing, there's no other abnormal changes and yet this sod has been inhaling this stuff for who knows how long..." Serris craned his head to get a better look, "It seems your suggestion is the best course here, in order to find out what effect this stuff may have on him. Although the reactions may be completely different now that he's dead. Still, it's worth trying."

Serris would attempt to Get monitoring devices onto the body, attempt to search for activity as Gideon works the substance.

Stay behind Jacob, keep an eye out behind us, signal the security team again.
Keep my pistols drawn and reload them.

Head off in the direction of the security team, whether the others follow or not.

Roll 12

Serris began stitching the soldier's face back together while Gideon experimented with some of the goop by suspending it in mid air. It readily turned into a gas when moved around quickly, so he was careful to maintain his focus.
After attaching sensors to the soldier's face, Serris told Gideon to begin inserting part of Serris' sample into the soldier's brain. As he did, though, both Serris and Gideon had peculiar feelings, of some kind of loss of power. Serris quickly realized that the material was psionically active, somehow.
More apparent, however, was the fact that the soldier's face began to morph into something. Its skin appeared to contract and dissolve into the body, being replaced with a smooth, phosphorescent red layer. His facial features began to quickly undergo shifts in location and shape. Eventually, he was no longer human, but instead an eyeless creature with a low jaw and a layer of the aforementioned red, phosphorescent skin. It animated, struggling to lift the suit, but as Gideon strapped on his plated gloves and Serris ran for his plasma pistol lying on the desk, it sensed him and began to force claws from its appendages through the outer layer of the suit, gradually cutting it open.

"Just like a horror movie from back in my day..." Gideon muttered.
"Too bad we have to kill it," remaked Serris. "I thought humans were the only psionically active creatures. We must have triggered the morph through the presence of our psionic abilities."

--

Jacob set his drone on a scouting algorithm so that he could determine where it was on the ship and where the security team lost connection with the ship's mainframe.

He, Aldarist and Max rushed ahead toward the security team's location as the crewman gave them directions.
"There you are, I see you, you're close."
Max responded, "Roger that. Will this door lead to them?"
"Yes--"

Max kicked the door with a sharp kick (8 damage). It didn't budge.
"I got it..."
Jacob pushed his suit's arm in the direction of the door. The lock snapped, releasing parts onto the floor. Max rushed through, rifle pointed forward. He spotted the four officers, and aimed at them, shouting into the near-field radio:
"This is officer Maximilian! You are being reprimanded for ignoring orders and possible treachery!"
[6] The personnel only now realized what was happening, having had little combat training beforehand. They looked around, confused, and saw Max with Jacob and Aldarist standing, weapons ready, about to shoot if orders were not followed.

One of them stepped forard.
"I'm afraid this is all a misunderstanding. None of this was intentional."

"none of what, officer? And how can ignoring orders be classed as 'unintentional'?"

Rest my pistol against the man who spokes head.

"Try again and I better like your answer or your three friends will be cleaning you off the bulkhead."

Flip the safety off for extra emphasis.

(( I ain't actually gonna kill him, unless his answer really really sucks in which case who knows, but a former soldier and head of security has valid reasons for scaring the living hell out of the guy :). ))

"You guys better have a good explanation about this."
Stand by and listen to them. Wait to see if they are hostile.

"Our communicators messed up, we didn't know where to find you guys, honestly," replied the guard, seemingly terrified at Aldarist's weapon.

Take his radio, hold it to my ear and speak into my own, hit him on the head with the butt of my gun if it works.

"You realize the ship has intercom right? Or do I need to hit you in the face with a speaker to make it sink in and don't even try to tell me it isn't working because I know damn well that it is."

"Sir, sound does not travel in a vacuum!" he exclaimed.

(The radios are built into the suits...)
