Name: Nelios DalachBio:Nelios was born in a world which was left in strife and cut off from the rest of the human-inhabited planets for a long, long time. The society of Aldros II turned into a modern feudal system, with the reappearance of a class of knights and a new age of bounty for mercenaries as the several lords waged war against each other, creating a scenario where once more might made right - as it always did across humankind's history, at any rate.
It was a common sight on the battlefield to spot armies carrying ballistic and energy weapons fighting against warriors with enhanced versions of ancient weapons, such as crossbows. Different types of protection also appeared in the battlefield, ranging from leather armor and common plate armor to the modern powered suits and hulking heavy combat small mechs.
Born in a branch family of a knightly order, Nelios was still trained and grew to be the "light" version of a jack-of-all-trades. Not specifically great in any area, he was capable of avoiding routine and the problems of overespecialization by being flexible. Even with his flexibility, he did take a sizeable liking for the extremes of long-range sniping - mainly by taking down well-armored officers and vehicles as combat raged - and the furious joy of melee, cutting and tearing through enemies with joyous technique.
Upon the restablishment of contact between Aldros II and other planets, he was among the first batch of soldiers to be taught how to control flying crafts - due to his young age and flexible nature - and sent out along with several other groups to return with a comprehensible report of the situation of man-controlled space, using means to gather information not allowed to diplomats. He was also given
carte-blanche to get in trouble while doing so as long as the mission was completed in the name of the house he was sworn to.
Appearance: Nelios is a young man with an angular face and an athletic, lean build deriving from his usual work for his order. His eyes are blue and hair is straight, black and long, usually tied in some manner. He is seldomly seen without any armor on due to his intense military career and apparently feels more at home with metal protecting his body.
Stats: STR: 6 | AGI: 8 | INT: 3
Skills: - Ambusher [1]
- Armor User [2]
- Berserker [2]
- Observer [3]
-
Pilot [1] :: Used for small to medium size assault vehicles or aircraft
- Soul Shield [1]
Abilities: Suggestion, of course and only if possible. I don't want to meddle.
-
Battle Continuation :: Keeping on fighting when most would have given up.
-
Animate Monofilament Thread :: Nelios is capable of energizing the monofilament threads he usually carries on him, which he is able to control through movements of his fingers and hands.
::
Monofilament Web :: An energy-sapping web of monofilament formed by energizing monofilament threads and animating them into a weblike structure. Invisible to the naked eye and hard to spot with common vision-enhancement equipment, it is an effective, quickly deployed trap which saps the energy from anyone caught on it and transfers the power to its creator.
-
"Banshee" Named Round :: Nicknamed "Banshee", this is the one shot that accelerates your target's visit to their deity of choice. Nelios spends one turn to load one of his "named" rounds, which usually carry messages such as "See you later" and "Farewell" inscribed upon them, then carefully takes aim to deliver the message to his target. The special round is larger than the common standard-issue ones, and due to special guiding systems, it is also able to keep its course for more time as well. After most of the distance separating it from its target has been left behind, the large round unlocks its side compartments and allows dozens of fin-stabilized and extremely dense darts to be released while following its course. As the round releases the darts, it provokes an intense discharge of energy between the metal surface of all the moving projectiles which forms a small
maelström of energy that leaves a visible trail as it approaches the enemy with the frightening wail (except in space, of course) that gave the round its nickname. Upon impact, the target is hit by the main projectile, the darts and the energy crackling between them.
Inventory: Same thing as above. Suggestion, cut off what seems exaggerated.
-
"Asbestos" Dire Cannon :: A large and heavy "rifle", it is actually a smoothbore which fires a fin-stabilized discarding sabot round; it makes use of a rotating bolt, long recoil mechanism in which the barrel recoils into a shock-absorbing hydro-pneumatic sleeve to minimize the impact transmitted to the shooter, being further reduced by a multi-baffle muzzle brake. Simple mechanisms and systems which only worked in atmospheric combat were replaced and modified to allow for usage of the gun in space along with a new, powerful scope which works as its main aiming aid, although complex iron sights and a simple unassisted scope are usually provided separately as a backup should the main scope fail. The weapon itself is heavy and over six feet long, but its power and the fact its shooters are trained to be familiar with its weight facilitates its operation and use against heavily armored targets thanks to the armor-piercing ammo, although alternative ammunition may be supplied.
-
Ceremonial Armor :: Prioritizing protection for torso, neck and head, this armor was made to be visually pleasant while still retaining protective qualities. The entire set seems to be inspired by late medieval knights, albeit having a silver color with light blue details, such as trims, detachable waistcoat, symbols and the helmet's crest itself. A relatively light suit of armor due to its mostly ceremonial purpose, its vital areas have thicker armor, just in case the owner finds himself in a pinch or targetted by long-range attackers. The armor has mag-strips and, alternatively, retractable straps on the back and sides to hold weaponry. Around his neck and covering the lower part of his helmet, is a large scarf colored the same blue of the suit's crest, which also serves to mask part of the armor's extra armor at the gorget and collar area.
-
Bandages :: Worn on abdomen, arms and part of his legs, they serve little purpose aside from being a tradition of his unit and an easy way of keeping bandages with him.
-
"Torque" Chainsword :: A vaguely-sword shaped weapon of war, the Torque chainsword possesses a flat housing containing the chain loop, keeping only the forward curved section open. It is a melee weapon with vicious spinning chain teeth and it tears through armor but is simply brutal against unarmored foes. The armored backside and guard guarantee a great measure of protection to the operator; even if the chain snaps under extreme stress, the wielder won't be harmed, and an extra precaution exists in the form of a chain usually connecting both glove and weapon.
-
"Chain-Link" Explosive Tagger :: A system usually hidden within, or camouflaged on, armored gloves, it allows the user to "tag" explosive charges to the target. This weapon is usually employed to take down doors and obstacles as much as to take down heavier enemies in melee due to the focused nature of the explosion of some of those charges, including the purposeful inducing of secondary internal fragmentation inside the target's armor and systems.
-
"Hound" Range-Finding Binoculars :: Binoculars used for checking ranges, tracking and locating moving objects. A piece of equipment usually issued to designated marksmen, artillery teams, ambushers and snipers as a way of measuring the distance to their target. They are used either normally or divided in two equal halves, with the user commonly attaching one side to his face, helm or visor.
-
Monofilament Wire :: A fairly large amount of monofilament wire, kept as normal thread would inside one of his suit's pockets. It is a resilient and sharp thread of very, very narrow metal which vibrates and cuts when exposed to certain energies.
-
Wax, order seal and parchments :: For attaching oaths of battle, fervor and devotion onto armor. Usually employed before combat by warriors to affix vows to their suits. The seal provided to press against the wax and glue it to the armor bears the symbol of Nelios' order, a complex hexagrammic ward.
