what do you do when your Liberals get imprisoned?
« on: November 10, 2012, 02:28:34 am »

I have been recruiting crackheads and prostitutes, arming them, and setting them up as a sort of street gang separate from my other squads that just brings in money from drugs and prostitution. Lots of them inevitably get cornered by the cops. I could just shoot back, but at least this time around, I let many of them get caught, and the three that didn't turn on me received very long prison sentences. As in, they're more or less dead to me. But they're taking up my precious recruitment slots.

I have heard I can bust them out of jail, which is probably my next move, but is there any way to just cut them loose and expel them from the LCS altogether so I can recruit someone else in their place? A jailbreak will surely bring the heat..

Abandoning your loyal troops to being beaten and tortured in prison, or (worse) re-educated in a camp?

Someone must have polluted your mind with Wisdom!!!

If it's a term of years (rather than Life), they're on the first floor and should be fairly easy to evac.  Send 4 or so people in Guard Uniforms to locate the control room and use it as you would any other site area.  Getting a sleeper first might come in handy for the map but is probably overkill; I'd recommend a dry run or two so you know the route, though, and don't bother grabbing loot as I've only ever found shivs.

[To answer the question asked: not unless you lose the person who recruited them and thereby lose communication...which in turn means you lost the slots anyway.  You can kill off your troops either deliberately from the stat screen (which specifically warns that killing your own isn't Liberal, as I found when I hit the button by mistake) or by sending them on a suicide run against a CCS safehouse or some other lethal adversary.]

You -may- be able to boot them from the LCS by pulling up their character sheet from the review screen. I'm honestly not sure. I believe you can do that for members that aren't in prison, at the risk of them potentially going to the police in their disgruntlement.

Hmm.  I recall seeing something like that once but have no idea where it was or how I found it, so I didn't mention it.  (Could have misremembered or been seeing things.  Playing at 2-3 AM and all.)  I know that it wasn't nearly as prominent as the Kill option.

Possibly only there for members w/o anyone below them in the organization?

How ridiculous. It is clearly a part of the implied Liberal philosophy that the situation has become so dire, desperate measures are in order. Casualties can hardly be objected to. Once the world has been freed from the grips of the conservative menace, we can melt down the guns and stop sacrificing innocent lives and all that.

Thanks for the help. It appears you can't fire someone from the LCS unless they are an Active Liberal.

If you break them out I believe their charges will be reset to merely escaping from prison, which is a pretty beatable charge so it should be easy to get them back with a fresh rap sheet that way.

I always liked sending in a single, incredibly stealthy liberal warrior to bust them out.
He'd avoid all the security effortlessly, rescue his comrades and then on the way out most of them were usually shot to pieces as he dodged any bullets that came his way. :P I miss that founder... 27 stealth, security, dodge etc was fun. 8)

Good advice.

For those who want to know why it is best not to grab loot, I'll provide the following explanation:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I'd also suggest trying to use somebody that can pick the lock to the prison area, otherwise you're going in while the alarms are blaring.

Also make sure they have been sentenced and sent to the prison, before that the courthouse is where you will want to look.

True.  Full sequence, for the record:

Arrest: @Police Station Cells
<next month>*
Transferred to Court House Cells for trial
<next month>
Trials take place in the inter-month period.  If Not Guilty, returned wherever they were, with Clothes equipped (I think it's issued, rather than returning whatever you were wearing on arrest.  Naked arrestees are issued Clothes on release.)
If Guilty, transferred to the Prison:
If a term of months or years: First-floor Cells.
If at least one Life term: Second-floor Cells, and when my founder got six consecutive life sentences, the pleasant wish to "Have a nice day, [$LEGALNAME]."
If sentenced to Death: Third-floor Cells, and you have three months to rescue them before the execution.

*More accurately, at the next month-change after the arrest.  If you plan on deliberately running someone through trial to clean up their sheet or level up your sleeper lawyer, have them surrender on-site on the last day of the month.  They'll be transferred later that day, and if Not Guilty you only lose them for a month.
