A Ball Made of Gears that Refuses to Turn

Now, despite what the title says, this has nothing to do with any sort of machine. At least, not in a literal sense.
I'm currently working on a creature which is, as the title implies, a mobile ball of gears. In order to simulate the gears turning extremely fast, I've made them an edge attack.
However, Arena testing reveals that the attacks aren't working. The creatures simply push, and that isn't doing half the damage I need.
It's probably just some idiotic mistake, bit if any help can be offered, please help!

Erm... That kinda made it worse.
The edged attack still fails to work, leaving them with a push, and now they're all blinking like they're heavily injured, and they fall down upon being spawned.
Oh dear... No luck, it seems.

Oh dear... No luck, it seems.
Seems like you did the BPs wrong then. Check the errorlog to see what it says.

I'd put on a few more (read, MANY MORE) gears, and some cool glowing eyes. But yeah, SCP worthy definitely, maybe make the metal bleed a syndrome material.

EDIT:Fixing this creature also made me realize how to fix my slashers so they can dismember. Thanks Monk-guy, I honestly would never have figured that out if you hadn't asked for help.
