I left off when a good migrant wave arrived. Not one minute after they arrived, a slaver ambush appeared and killed most of them. One of the illusion CMs and the hammer CM survived (he would become captain of the hammer squad later). The slavers are easily killed by the militia.
Another migrant wave brings 4 experienced gunners, one of them with a CM. One of them is a legendary dodger and ambusher (later a captain of a new gunner squad).
The largest raider siege yet happens. 5 squads led by the general. Almost their entire sword squad is captured and caged, and we fire at them from the walls. 2 soldiers are trapped outside and quickly perish. The gunner CM mare in the 3rd rifle squad gives birth in the midst of battle to a filly with a martial combat CM on top of the wall. She continues firing. I filter a few raider swordsponies through the airlock-like gates and Facestab takes 3 of them on by himself. He is now a legendary spearpony.
I decide we've had enough of the slavers, and so attack their caravan. Facestab is the first on the scene, and he proceeds to gore one of the traders in the face with his horn. The rest are slaughtered by melee squads.
The 1 battle saddle user in the military happens to also have SATS. He is on the wall alongside several armored protectaponies firing at the raiders. They are eventually routed. 12 casualties from those trapped outside.
An Ironshod firearms crate gives us flamethrower schematics.
Not seconds later, a MWT crate gives us the first box of power armor.
Autumn 209, the stable caravan arrives. Knowing my luck, a griffon siege will show up 15 seconds later.
... close, it was some raider squads in an ambush. Idiots didn't even stand a chance.
Reports of hellhounds ambushing things at z-44 happen. I breach the lower 2 cavern layers and have them walled off. (I spot a GCS but it leaves before I can capture it
) Turns out there was indeed a downward passage.
The soap helps quell the tantrum spiral. No insanities or deaths happen, thankfully, although I have to rebuild a few workshops.
I notice that in Facestab's squad of 3, he is an 87 year old hardened badass teaching a 12 year old (now a spearmaster) and a 15 year old (who happens to use stealthbucks too).
210 arrives (quite an exciting year). FPS is beginning to shudder. We are at 90.
More cyberdog schematics are found to replace the older ones. hehe
Finally, a sniper CM. He is immediately put in the AMR squad with 2 other peasants.
A large slaver siege appears. 2 gunner squads, markspony squad, sword squad, hammerpony squad. I don't engage them due to their sheer numbers.
actually... they're using shit ammo that can't penetrate steel combat armor. Let's see what our legendary gunners can do. They have a sniper, but that means nothing when she only has a hunting rifle. We're not hiding anymore.
The entire military is called and ready at the chokepoint. Some of them lack full armor, a few don't wear helmets or boots. Fortunately those are in ranged squads.
The sword and hammer squads bursts through when the gates are opened. We are waiting for them.
Facestab is at the front and manages to not take a single hit.
One of his pupils dies to one of our stone traps (WTF!? THAT WAS THE FUCKING 12 YEAR OLD SPEARMASTER. I removed those stone traps. All of them.)
The ranged squads lay down a hail of bullets on the incoming slavers. One of the new AMR squad is hit by stray bullets and their lack of armor kills them.
Armored robots arrive and aid in the frontline fighting.
Facestab returns from a short retreat for no apparent reason. He is the only melee soldier present. (slackers)
He then proceeds to roll away from a bullet, then take out 3 slavers by himself whilst laying on the ground. He has yet to sustain even the slightest wound, with 5 kills from this battle.
It appears i was wrong. At least 1 of the slavers is using some steel ammo.
MANY lives have been saved by steel combat armor. The siege's leader has been struck down by a hail of bullets from our minigunner. Facestab's remaining pupil returns to the battle. The remaining hammer squad also joins in, but they have sustained a few injuries.
After some more fighting, we are victorious. Losses in the military are next to none, except for the odd fluke with the spearpony (
) and one of the AMR squad who lacked armor.
Facestab is a ninja, our gunners never miss, and armor is amazing. Their lack of steel ammunition was why we won. The armored robots also did a nice job of distracting them or leading them into traps. We captured both hammer lords and a swordmaster. Civilian losses were less than 10. A few were caught in the crossfire.
The first party ever is held in celebration.
The very first foray into the caverns is made. The lance squad and the second rifle squad (which includes the minigunner) is sent to cover scavengers and slay the 4 forgotten beasts lurking around. One of them has dust. I've never actually dealt with deadly dust up close, but I figured with a minigunner, legendary gunners and a legendary spearpony, what could go wrong?
After killing the first one flawlessly, Facestab bestows the name Pitclash Silence upon his plasma lance.
A fire breathing leech arrives from one side. It is engaged by an armored robot and sets a few scavengers on fire.
Facestab charges into the smoke, but before he can do anything, the armored robot takes its revenge from the ground and fires a lucky shot into the leech's brain.
The other two arrive from the other direction.
Unexpectedly, the fire proves to be a huge problem. A one hauler dies to flames. Facestab is set on fire but lives (what a badass).
Then, at the WORST POSSIBLE TIME, a STEEL RANGER SIEGE appears.
Gates are sealed, I have to deal with them later.
The minigunner dies to flames. ARRRRGH
Facestab refuses medical help and walks himself back into the stable for a drink.
The other gunner in the rifle squad sucuumbs to flames. The legendary gunner is what remains, and survives the inferno.
The armored robot kills another forgotten beast that was made of grime and filth.
The dust thrower arrives from the other side, avoiding the flames.
It is engaged by a brave dog, who actually does some damage.
As if coordinating, both forgotten beasts appear simultaneously. The new reinforcements engage them. They are weakened from previous engagements and fires.
Hammer squad engages civet w/ deadly blood.
Gunners engage dimetrodon w/ dust.
The dust thrower causes rotten flesh on contact with his extract, but it is not THAT deadly (or is it).
The reinforcements are whittled down until 1 hammerpony remains, battling it out with the dust thrower. It is the final forgotten beast.
More reinforcements arrive shortly after the hammerpony dies.
Obviously the ROTTING EFFECT of the dust is obliterating us. Robots appear and push it back.
The squads move in to assist, and the armored protectapony kills the beast. A fucking robot did what a third of my military couldn't. OOOOH DUST.
Facestab never did go to the hospital.
Also, i don't know how, but the militia commander died in the battle. I never sent her squad down there. Queen Smilecontrol, legendary gunner, the mother who gave birth on the wall, is the new commander.
28 ponies are lost. All haulers or military.
Never again shall I so recklessly engage a dust thrower.
A few tantrums happen. Nothing too serious. I find that interestingly, one of my legendary gunners is 108 years old.
All 3 of my legendary gunners are mares. They are the only mares in the military.
A pack of ghouls (glowing ones) appears in the caverns. Hammer and lance squad are set on guard.
Facestab decides to get provisions. While he is gone, a single glowing one is drawn to the 3 soldiers (a newbie spearpony, newbie hammerpony, and the hammer CM captain.)
They are all paralyzed and gored to death by the unicorn glowing one.
(holy fucking shit i didn't think those would be that strong).
A giant scorpion FB appears. This one has wings and the poison sting. Easy enough.
Facestab is the first to charge in. He is supported by the spearpony assassin (now 16 years old) and 2 gunners, one of them legendary. Reinforcements are coming.
They aren't needed. Facestab rolls around on the ground (with a scorpion 5 times his size) without taking a scratch until a bullet from the newbie gunner hits the beast
in the leg and causes it to stumble. Facestab and his assassin apprentice then proceed to beat the shit out of it. Facestab gores it several times with his horn.
An armored robot arrives and assists. It is not quite as good as dodging as the lance squad, and so takes several hits from the beast.
The beast is killed with a buck to the head from the new militia commander, the mother of defense foldhawk. She is a legendary gunner. She never fired a single bullet during the fight, only tore the beast with her ripper rifle.
Finally, the action is over. The rangers remain outside. It seems that this might just have been worth it. The largest influx of high quality salvage ever has come to Violencepage.
A stray dog becomes the very first cyberdog. It is followed by many others.
Due to casualties, hammer squad is disbanded. The remaining member is moved to lance squad to be trained by Facestab.
One of the new gunner recruits is caught on the wall and showered with minigun fire. His armor does little. His masterwork chainsaw rifle is left on the wall as he is rushed
to the hospital by the overmare herself. He was shot no less than 20 times. All four of his legs are broken, in addition to numerous internal injuries and a broken spine. He is blessed with amazing recuperative abilities, however.
The MOMENT the steel rangers leave, (a few are still here), a raider siege appears. Oh, wasteland. The legendary soldiers are called with their squads.
We're gonna have !!FUN!!. (FPS is about 75-80)
MOMENTS before the fighting begins, Facestab decides to take a nap (seriously the raiders were walking through the gate when he decided to leave.)
The militia commander decides to charge the incoming hammerpony squad. She dies. (what? i thought I got the ammo squared away! No one else is doing that!)
somehow the spearpony assassin dies to a standard raider hammerpony. (WHAT!?)
Neither were wearing helmets for STUPID reasons. Also, unicorn horns are capable of penetrating steel combat armor.
Another raider squad charges in and kills the 2 remaining legendary gunners. what
the remaining expert gunner puts up a good fight, but there's just too many.
there are now precisely 3 soldiers remaining. Facestab, the sniper captain (now quite skilled), and a competent gunner.
Facestab arrives on the scene. He takes on 7 raider maceponies by himself.
The sniper captain arrives, along with some robot reinforcements. The first to arrive is the armored protectapony Kindness, the killer of the forgotten beasts.
a few raiders make it inside the stable. they are melted by a sea of robots and new cyberdogs.
Facestab's fight rages into the flaming surface stockpile. At this point he has killed 11 raiders with little assistance. The 2 other soldiers die.
The raiders are routed. 3 legendary gunners and their squads couldn't do what 1 legendary spearpony and fighter and a few robots could. Seriously, what.
Facestab doesn't even have SATS or stealthbucks. He's just a REALLY beefy unicorn.
A check of population gives us.... 20.
Facestab is the only surviving soldier. He took exactly two hits, bruises from maces. He killed 20 raiders.
here we go again. At least that fixed the FPS slowdown!
a look at the survivors reveals that one pony has in fact been here since 202. She has survived both apocalypses of Violencepage now and i believe met our old friend Paper Fistdroplet.
She has produced the coffins for hundreds.
The overmare has lived. She has been here the second longest, arriving in 203. She is a legendary carpenter.
3 others survived the previous raider apocalypse where 120 ponies died. The next oldest is facestab himself.
There still exists a pony with medical skills. Another lonely winter arrives for the stable.
sometime during the battle, the recruit that took 20 shots bled out in the hospital.
right on fucking cue, a HELLHOUND springs from ambush on the first cave layer. He is ambushing a crippled puppy.
I consider sending in facestab, but knowing my luck (and hellhounds from the fic, you know, the ones that cut through power armor) he would get decapitated in 3 seconds.
a check is made for stragglers in the caves. There are none, and the subterranean gates are sealed.
okay.... it was just one hellhound. and he didn't even finish off the poor pup before he burrowed away. All he did was break its spine.
oh. that's where he went. up. He ambushes an armored protectapony in a lower corridor.
I don't know if this means anything, but the hellhound has the blood of one of the long dead (before i breached) forgotten beasts on his paws.
The robot appears to be losing until it shoots the hellhound in the head, knocking him unconscious. Facestab finally appears and doesn't even hesitate to stab the hellhound in the face.
By some amazing magic from Celestia, the only pony in the fort who had drank a power armor drink (by accident) lived. He is put in Facestab's squad, along with another stallion, one of the ponies who has been here longer than Facestab.
Migrants. Nine of them.
A sniper CM... from a foal. I'll wait.
A hammer/mace CM with experience. Maybe when we have numbers I can reform the hammer squad.

Population: 27. 11 females, 16 males. 11 earth ponies, 16 unicorns. Only 4 unicorns are female.
more migrants. we are rebuilding once more. Pretty worthless, although there is a destruction apprentice CM that i can finally utilize.
juggling robot manufacturing and arcane research between 2 power talismans royally sucks.
As if my prayers are answered, a robronco crate yields a third power talisman. And more robobrain schematics.
An ambush appears.
This is... new. The Unity has come at last.
A single wing of green alicorns, and an additional wing of blue alicorns were spotted before they vanished. A wild robobrain attacks them, so i get to see a nice demonstration of their abilities. With my military crippled, i think this is it...
The robobrain manages to give them a few bruises.
The alicorns do nothing on top of a hill after finishing the robobrain.
Another FB made of amber with deadly spittle in the 3rd layer.
Two of the green alicorns finally attack, provoked by a pony that wandered too close.
... after chasing a few ponies around near the walls, the alicorns just... leave.

That's all the high quality salvage. I went through 2 MAW crates and 3 MAS crates. delicious, delicious MAW crates. Those statuettes are gonna be hard to find.
