The first steel ranger ambush I've ever dealt with happens. I quickly seal off the surface gates, but one steel ranger with a rocket saddle slips through. He fires and misses most of his targets, setting the stable's surface inside the walls on fire. I panic and immediately send my more experienced militia (of 6 meagerly experienced ponies but well armed...) at the ranger, who is now inside the stable. One spearpony meets him face to face and he kicks her to death before she does anything. Mare Hitler appears from the depths and opens fire on him, getting a few good hits off before he reaches her and kicks her several times. She is dying when the spear CM captain appears from the nearby stairs and stabs the ranger in the face with his plasma lance, ending it. Mare Hitler bleeds out a few seconds later anyway. The captain is nicknamed 'Facestab' (a very tough unicorn). At a later point he kills a slaver in the arena by goring it in the face with his horn.
At this point, Facestab is a talented spearpony and legendary fighter. I'd gotten some stuff in the arena finally for the lance squad.
The surface stockpiles are still burning. Luckily most supplies are in the stable's internal stockpiles Later I discover that I lose cyberdog schematics to the flames
. A gunner suffocates in the smoke. Several brahmin and bighorners left by bugged caravaners go insane. Anyone on the surface is set upon by flaming mutated farm animals. The steel rangers have scorched the landscape around the walls. We've captured two of them.
A new armored protectapony goes crazy and takes a mr. hooves with it (the only one I had, although I do have a nurse redheart.)
'Some migrants have arrived, despite the danger.' 2 combat CMs are among the 10 migrants. They are all torn to pieces by steel rangers.
The new militia commander and a spearpony become assassins.
A pony somehow falls into the caves. She is quickly set upon by the 4 forgotten beasts lurking around down there. One of them has wings that I ignored earlier, and it flies up, destroys the hatch cover made to drop creatures into the caves, and enters the stable. It is quickly killed, being made of salt.
A raider siege arrives, composed of 2 hammer lord-led hammer squads, and an executioner-led squad. Gates are easily sealed, and the gunners take potshots at the raiders whenever they come close for some good experience (new militia commander is next best gunner). Not long later....
Griffons! oh, that [FLIER] tag is a bit of a problem. And they all have chainsaw or ripper rifles. burrows go active and everyone is sealed inside. The outer gates are remotely opened, where a captured steel ranger swords-scribe somehow escapes and charges at the 16 griffons. He deflects and dodges bullets until he gets close and hacks a griffon's right claw off (sadly she wields the gun with her left). He takes a few hits and drops his shield and sword out of pain. Somehow he continues to block bullets until he gets an unlucky hit and falls to the hail of bullets. 2 Griffons are captured in traps and later used to train the lance squad further until they leave.
An wood artifact table and wood artifact bracelet are still on fire. Rain eventually puts out the the artifact table, but the bracelet has been on fire for 2 years. No one will dump it under the atom smasher, so I don't know what to do with it. I built floors around the stockpile because it lit the ground fire 2 more times over the years.
TWO power talismans are found and used for MAS/MAW forges, finally. We lack any sort of magic CM though, and I don't have much plasteel.
Rarity statuette is recovered.
Finally, we are able to go outside the walls again after a year of continuous blockade by sieges. A new migrant wave of 25 comes, including a sword CM, gunner CM, medical CM, and martial combat CM.
We have a general familiarity now with eagles that we captured a few years ago and have been training.
A pony outside the walls discovers a raider. Unfortunately for the raider, that pony happens to be Facestab. At this point, Facestab is an accomplished spearpony and legendary +5 fighter. He turns the raider to mush. His profession name is changed to 'badass'
The pony with the sword CM dies in a fire lit from the flaming bracelet. He is the only casualty.
A slaver siege appears, 3 squads, led by the underboss (interestingly, the underboss is a wastelander). Gates are sealed and an entire squad is dispatched by the gunner squad from the walls until the slavers retreat.
A foal gets the destruction apprentice CM when he comes of age. Gems begin being carved.
A pony goes into a fell mood. She takes over the tanner's shop and then proceeds to quite humorously kill 3 ghosts, until giving up on that and finally murdering a random pony who really wasn't being all that useful.
A steel ranger siege arrives seconds after the stable caravan. Gates are sealed, and we don't dare step onto the walls. All of them have minigun saddles. Internal activities continue. Still nobody with good enough archery to wield Spitfire's Thunder effectively, although the rifle squad does often drill markspony stuff. I need another sniper CM.
Population as of year 209 is 95. A new migrant wave just brought more combat CMs 3 illusion apprentices (psychiatrists) and a restoration adept. Facestab is now a grand master spearpony. The lowest ranking gunner in the commander's squad is talented. Additionally, a hammer squad, second gunner squad, and sword/ripper squad are added during this time.
