Morning ReportLemon proceeds well.
First thing that was done in the morning was expansion of rooms, the building of an office for our record keeper and a hospital for our wounded.
Replica was, unlike what I thought, not fine.
The moment the hospital was built he retreated to a bed and passed out, he was joined by Khenal who was also wounded.
Lycaeon remained in the dormitory.
The hospital was raised around them, several cabinets and chests were set up as they laid broken in our makeshift hospital.
In the meanwhile the bedrooms were also expanded, to keep things as close and organized as possible I built the bedrooms on the same layer as everything else despite the complaints of noise coming from the mason's workshops.
More stone was dug out in order to construct more doors, tables and stone chairs for the rooms, mess hall and office respectively.
After a while I began to worry about Khenal, Replica and Lycaeon not recovering, so I checked the raws to see if nerve tissue has a recovery rate, which it does, it is at 5000, so Replica should
in theory recover from his nerve damage eventually.
But that wasn't the issue, after reading up on healthcare real quick I realized that they needed splints, crutches and general treatment, to get these they needed to be diagnosed, and since Lycaeon was out I had to find another replacement, someone who could do his job in the meanwhile.
I looked to P(ony)SI, our butcher, I mean she knows how to chop meat, and Lycaeon is a surgeon, so that's kinda the same thing right?
She was reassigned and excempted from building and hauling duties, she immediately set about diagnosing everyone and once she was done I became grim.
Everyone were infected, all three of them, and they needed cleaning and treatment, STAT.
With no soap and no well and a ticking clock I rushed for a solution, I needed soap, and I needed a well.
To get the soap I set up a wood furnace, a soap making workshop and an ashery and set about the soap making process.
I built extra buckets and created lye from ash, then I butchered one of my two male bighorners (totally useless and I'd rather not touch my meager brahmin herd) for his fat which we rendered into tallow.
While everything was set up a caravan arrived, and we had no trade depot.
While the trade depot was built, half the stable rushed out to steal cloth and thread, the traders didn't object and we ended up with an overstocked hospital, which is fantastic as we were short on cloth to begin with.
They came to the depot once it was set up but were not dealt with, we had nothing to trade and had no permanent broker yet, so we left them as they were.
The caravan narrowly avoided a giant radscorpion and a cloud of irradiated dust, lucky them.
Before long we managed to turn the tallow and lye into soap, something which Replica ironically set about doing despite being infected and wounded. Hurray for earth pony superiority!
Khenal and Replica were both treated and cleaned, Replica received a crutch which he walks around with by holding it in his mouth (hard to imagine but it seems to work out for him), they both immediately returned to their duties and are both even capable of fighting again.
Lycaeon, who wasn't in the hospital, didn't get treated however and he was worsening, as a solution we had to deconstruct his bed in the dormitory so he could be recovered again, this took but a second and soon he was in the hospital where he belonged.
He was cleaned, but is still infected, and was treated.
Lycaeon's broken tail was quite serious though and required a traction bench to be fixed, and with no traction benches prepared we had to get one built for him.
Once this was done and placed P(ony)SI got Lycaeon set up and immobilized on the bench where he has been laying since (might be bugged, or he might just be healing that slowly).
I believe that he might be need of gypsum plaster of which there is none on the map, I could cheat, and turn a layer into gypsum, or I could demote him from leadership position and assign someone else to treat with the liason for the next caravan. I'll figure something out next session.
Also, the water froze for a while despite the embark telling me that we were deep within a warm biome, and drinks were running low, so I had to set up a well somewhere.
Luckily through the use of, *eherm* TELEPATHY AND PIXIE MAGIC, I discovered that we had a tiny aquifier on the same layer as our workshops, so we dug out a small area where we now have a working well and a small fishing pond which is providing us with a meager supply of mussels and radfish.
Some coffins were built with Crazy Cow's dead pet in mind, but despite being set to allowing pets our ponies are not bringing the skeleton of her dog downstairs for a respectful burial for his service against the giant radscorpion.
Guess she simply doesn't give a fuck.
Speaking of Crazy Cow, her's and Replica's relationship seems to develop steadily despite his relative absence, according to their screens they talk and comfort each other frequently, it is very likely that they might end up married within the year.
As for other relationships Maklak and P(ony)SI are now lovers, congratulations you guys!
When can we expect foals? Or is it too soon and personal to ask?
Migrants arrived at some point, again we had them take the G.O.A.T which resulted in the following.
One Clothesmaker, Two Farmers, One Scavenger, One Craftspony and One Butcher.
Professions were also reorganized.
Our Woodworker was turned into a Scavenger, who work with Carpentry and Wood Cutting, this brings their numbers to 4, with Maklak and Indigo_Surprise as their "leaders", the other two are Death, the cryptic mare and Stream Loaf, a stallion.
Bay 12'er professions were also rearranged.
Replica became a Farmer (now 3), P(ony)SI became a Butcher (2), Khenal became a professional Macepony (2), Lycaeon became a Medical Pony (full time once he recovers), Indigo and Maklak both became Scavengers and Crazy Cow became a Smith (of which we have 2).
List of professions is,
Butchers - 2
Clothesmakers - 2
Craftsponies - 1 (but technically 0, as our craftspony is a child)
Farmers - 3
Knifeponies - 1
Maceponies - 2
Managers - 1
Medical Ponies - 1
Rifleponies - 1
Scavengers - 4
Smiths - 2
Following these migrants and the decreasing supply of food farms were set up.
An area was dug out by our workshops in the soil layer, these farms will be growing synth-reeds, which can be used for food, brewing and processed into cloth and thread (which we really don't need at the moment, but may come in handy nonetheless once stocks fill up).
About the same time chicks hatched, three batches of them which has bolstered our number of Scootaloo considerably.
While we wait for them to grow up we have allowed egg collecting again to control their population and obtain more food.
With the bounty of eggs we had Replica began cooking up easy meals using eggs only, we now have about a 100 meals to trade and consume with more on the way.
Some extra farms were also built on the surface next to our prickle berry farm, we now have,
1 prickle berry farm, twilight berries in the winter, fallow in autumn.
1 fisher berry farm, twilight berries in the winter, fallow in autumn.
2 wild strawberry farms, sky bulbs in the winter, fallow in autumn.
1 wisdom bush farm, twilight berries in spring, fallow in autumn.
Proper bridge mechanisms were also built to keep trespassers off our perimeter, the smaller bridge is for the winter time when the river freezes and allows passage.
This system will later be expanded and built upon for more security.
In other news feral dogs attacked towards the end of the session and Indigo_Surprise once again proves earth pony superiority by rushing out in great haste and hogging most of the kills.
He is now leading with 11 kills, it is not as impressive as Replica's giant radscorpion kill (but that was more of a kill steal so it doesn't really count) with the second pony being at 6 (Replica). Lycaeon is still lagging behind at 0 kills and 0 levels in his skill, then he has also been comatose and without a spear since the beginning so I'll cut him some slack.
Once again Indigo_Surprise favors bucking puppies in the face and biting them in the neck over stabbing them with his knife, as he has still zero experience in knife handing.
Good on you girl.
So ends session 2 of Lemon.
While not as impressive as Maklak's progress we still got some shit done and developments have so far been positive.
I rerolled once, because P(ony)SI was caught in an irradiated cloud while hunting feral dogs and returned in pain and vomiting everywhere, in fear of her turning into a ghoul I savescummed, but aside from that nothing really bad happened this time around. The bridges saved us from that one giant radscorpion and the three black radscorpions that are circling around our perimeter haven't dared to make a move yet.
Our current list is this, with some objectives checked off.
-
Hospital Done, lacking Gypsum Plaster.
-
Office-
Smarter wall design and better defenses-
Trade Depot-
Early Bedrooms-
Farms-
Chicken herd Several Scootaloos have hatched, just waiting for them to grow up so we can butcher the roosters.
We still need,
- Early Iron Industry
- Barracks
- Armory (For Armor User training)
- Scavenging Industry
- Gypsum Trade Agreement
- Underground Pasture
- Secured Surface Farms
- Drink Production
Might do another update later today, still undecided on what to do for the rest of the day, there is so much to do and so little effort.
