Alright, I've had my fun for today, time to stop playing and cook myself something to eat.
Before I go I'll tell you about your progress.
The ponies we embarked with, the brave adventurers of the prestigious
'The Bar of Ales', were the following:
Crazy Cow, Unicorn Mare whose talent is Armorsmithing. Her cutiemark is a horseshoe and anvil.
Her coat is carmine, her mane and tail are stripped scarlet orange, saffron green, azure and amethyst. Her eyes are cobalt.
She is 34 years old, born in '67.
Her weapons are hammers, and their crushing might.
To note: She likes to complain a lot. She has her own room.
Khenal, Unicorn Stallion whose talent is Marksmanship. His cutiemark is an assault rifle and a magazine.
His coat is saffron, his mane and tail are tan. His eyes are raw umber.
He is 26 years old, born in '75.
His weapons are maces and flails, skullcrackers of the apocalypse.
To note: He is romantically involved with Indigo_Surprise.
Indigo_Surprise, Earth Pony Mare whose talent is Stealing, which means she is useless. Her cutiemark is a lockpick and a mask.
Her coat is dark tan, her mane and tail are, amusingly, indigo. Her eyes are aquamarine.
She is 22 years old, born in '79.
Her weapons are knives and rippers, compact and deadly tools suited for a rogue.
To note: Ditto.
Maklak, Unicorn Stallion whose talent is Scavenging. His cutiemark is a battle-axe.
His coat is green, his mane and tail are stripped turquoise and amethyst. His eyes are amethyst.
He is 31 years old, born in '70.
His weapons are axes and chainsaws, which tear through metal scavenge and flesh alike.
Lycaeon, Unicorn Stallion whose talent is helping wounded ponies, so that makes him our doctor. His cutiemark is a red cross and a stethoscope.
His coat is saffron, his mane and tail are dark indigo. His eyes are amethyst.
He is 21 years old, born in '80.
His weapons are spears, the bane of horses, zebras and ponies.
To note: Has ironically been laying in bed with a broken tail practically from the start.
P(ony)SI, Earth Pony Mare whose talent is Butchering. Her cutiemark is a cleaver embedded in a cut of steak.
Her coat is rose taupe, her mane and tail are striped scarlet and dark pink. Her eyes are heliotrope.
She is 32 years old, born in '69.
His weapons are maces and flails, and the crunch of bones.
Replica, Earth Pony Stallion whose talent is Farming. His cutiemark is an apple.
His coat is fern green, his mane and tail are rust. His eyes are aquamarine.
He is 30 years old, born in '71.
His weapons are swords, simple, yet deadly weapons favored by officers, even in the post apocalypse.
To note: He is
romantically involved with Crazy Cow. That's fucking right. Crazy Cow. The guy that hates earth ponies is involved with the guy that hates unicorns.
Might as well start to manufacture iron knee guards at this point.
Skillsets:Crazy Cow - Armorsmithing, Teaching.
Khenal - Dodging, Marksmanship.
Indigo_Surprise - Dodging, Bowyer.
Maklak - Woodcutting, Carpentry.
Lycaeon - Variety of medical skills.
P(ony)SI - Butchering, Leatherworking and Tanning.
Replica - Farming, Cooking.
Embark and so forth.
In terms of animals we embarked with four brahmin, four sprite bots, 8 security turrets and 2 war dogs.
We also embarked with three hens and two roosters.
The embark site was clean, no dangerous wildlife coming to kill us right away.
First action was assigning the two war dogs to Crazy Cow as his pets and protectors and enabling the sprite-bots to be used as pets.
I assigned P(ony)SI, Maklak, Khenal and Indigo on woodcutting duty and Replica, Lycaeon and Crazy Cow on mining duty.
While the last three dug out a few large rooms in the soil layer just above the stone layers the first four chopped down a significant area around the wagon, securing plenty of wood and medium quality scavenge for us right away.
While mining operations were still underway the cattle was pastured and the turrets were arrayed in a type of circle around the two pastures (one for brahmin and one for bighorners).
The first few rooms were prepared in the soil layer and operations to move everything in large ramshakle stockpiles began.
It took a while to get everything down there but eventually we got everything, including the wood we cut down, downstairs and divided into different stockpiles.
We appear to have plenty of medium quality salvage, seems like there is only a single log of low quality salvage in the stockpile, this is good.
At this point a chicken coop was also set up and locked away to allow reproducing, we managed to collect quite a few eggs before this was done though.
A quick few smaller rooms were dug out in the first stone layer, we dug out four rooms and used two to build dormitories of 4 beds each.
We find limonite, ore of iron (praise the miners!) which will come in handy later on, I cheated using the reveal command to see if there was more and yup, sure enough, the entire layer has several veins cris crossing across the map. Iron ponies for everyone!
Crazy Cow was at this point dangerously close to tantruming according to Dwarf Therapist, she was sick and tired of sleeping in the dirt and was upset about the lack of chairs.
She also complained about the weather, the way
all unicorns do.
The room at the top became the meeting hall (was nothing but an empty area designated as such due to all the irradiated storms above).
The room at the bottom is to become the hospital.
Area to the right is just mining for rocks needed to build the perimeter wall.
Before long feral dogs showed up on the surface, and began harassing our cattle.
Our turrets and valiant sprite-bot guardians killed two and scattered the rest, so I decided that it was a good time to take us out on our first killing spree.
Things went well, everyone got a kill save for Lycaeon who was bit and broke his tail, he was fine otherwise, and was brought to one of the dormitories where he has been sleeping since. His tail still hasn't healed and we need him going soon seeing as he is our medical pony and leader.
Everyone returned to their duties.
We began to raise the perimeter wall, progress was slow and everyone had to pitch in, but at one point Lycaeon was starving and dying of dehydration, so Replica had to be reassigned as his nurse in the meanwhile, using the spare time he also built a little prickle berry farm on the surface that grows twilight berries in the winter and fallows in the autumn.
Not much happened as the wall was raised.
We built some furniture for the meeting hall, got doors and floor hatches installed here and there and dug out more stone.
I noticed that Crazy Cow wasn't unhappy, in fact, she was a bit too happy, what is going on there?
I checked, and Crazy Cow has been romantically involved with Replica. It took me a moment to process the irony and the odds of that happening.
I didn't base anyone's character on gender, so this was just... hmm.
I gave her her own room, hoping that they will marry soon and share room before the clusterfuck of future migrants arrive.
Lycaeon also got his own room just across from theirs, just because, might as well.
The wall was eventually raised and the security turrets were rearranged to face down a short corridor.
Migrants arrived, 6 ponies, 3 stallions, 3 mares. One of them was cryptically named 'Death', and *nothing else*. Her name is just 'Death'.
I had them all take the G.O.A.T which resulted in one knifepony, one macepony, one manager (and record keeper), one riflepony, one armorsmith and one woodworker (carpenter).
The macepony, riflepony and knifepony were arranged in squads of their own, the 'Bay 12 Modding Board' squad being exclusive to us and our children.
Rifle Squad Alpha and Assault Squad Alpha were founded.
With no weapons or gear to give them they remain off duty until something is prepared for them.
The record keeper still hasn't received an office, but furniture for it, and an expansion to the dinning hall were prepared.
But before any of it could be placed, disaster struck! As a giant radscorpion made it's way into our secured perimeter!
With no way to escape the scorpion flew into a rage and began attacking our sprite-bots.
The brave Bay 12'ers were dispatched to the surface to slay this creature, and they fought for what felt like forever before they managed to kill it.
With no essential pony lost the outcome was acceptable with the loss of one of Crazy Cow's war dogs and an injured Replica, so business proceeds as usual.
Replica suffered from motor nerve and sensory nerve damage, causing him to have problems standing up and grasping things, but strangely he goes on just fine, he can walk, farm and fight just fine. Like a
boss true earth pony, unlike Lycaeon the unicorn *COUGH COUGH*.
This fight resulted in a significant increase in many of their skills.
The 6 who partook gained between 6 to 9 levels in Fighting.
Indigo and P(ony)SI both gained 5 levels in wrestling, Indigo also, interestingly, gained 1 level in biting and 9 levels in kicking. Seems like he didn't carry his knife into battle.
Those who used their weapons however all earned 3 levels in their respective weapon skills.
Lycaeon was (and still is) out cold, so he is lagging behind the rest of the squad.
And so ends the first of many bloody gameplay sessions.
Next session will try and get these things fixed/estabilished/done:
- Hospital
- Office
- Early Iron Industry
- Barracks
- Armory (For Armor User training)
- Smarter wall design and better defenses
- Trade Depot
- Scavenging Industry
- Early Bedrooms
- Farms
- Chicken herd
Must also remember to check the tissue raws for this world to see if nerve tissue have a healing rate or not, Replica got lucky, but others probably wont be as lucky as him.
I'd hate to end up with some sort of permanent cripple in my hospital, so it
needs to have a chance to heal, albeit slowly, for balance's sake.
