Yes, the stone is pretty much just cluttering the tunnels, having not really been hauled. Thats a total of EIGHT sixes on the wrong side.

Idea: Bunker. Dig an entrance upwards and seal it with a door hatch. They can't break it down from under it! :P [/DFbugs]

Actually, they'd just shatter it. This isn't strictly adhering to DF.

Oh, this is going to be fun. If this try at a wall doesn't work out, Calaro is just going to try to go into a martial trance.  :P

I can see by the death of several demons. :P

New plan. SAVE THE DOOMED MINER AND THEN FACE A LAST STAND TOGETHER! BECAUSE WE DON'T META DF!

Miner is already dead. I'm a hammerdorf who happened to be in the wrong fortress. But if I can get a high roll on the wall, we might be able to hold for the day at least, and then break the wall to let the husk and demons fight it out.

...Did anyone try a cave-in? This doesn't adhere to DF...

Heh, geologic defenses.

Because being in a terrifying biome was too easy, the dwarves opened up hell itself for a spot of tea, excitement, and Fun.

Okay, so, the way I see it, we have two options. Notice how three demons emerged from the depths this turn, and three demons died.

If we assume there's a constant number of demons and they keep coming up in equal numbers to how many we kill, then we've got no choice but to wall them in, just a bit further back (at the entrance of the fort, if necessary), and hope we can pull off a successful retreat in between.

If we assume three demons come out each turn or less, we might just be able to murder demons at a quick enough rate to get some breathing room.

...thoughts?

Bar the place off, if any siege weapon is present (Nope), create a controlled-cave-in for a retreat, then kill any stragglers.

With what, my bare hands?
Edit: As a building material?
That's pretty much what we did. Materials have been pretty abstract, presumably there was some stone from where you dug your tunnel just sitting around.
I was kinda trying to get out of range.
I thought the fortress was doomed and planned to forge some (crude) adamantine gear, actually. A wall never occurred to me. Sorry about that.
Having settled that bit, when would I have made the wall?
In the turn where you tore down ours?
Out of what, my bare hands?
I didn't even say, "Tear down the wall." Cassandra chose that action because I couldn't reach the forges.

Walls are built in-game with stone and the bare hands of dorfs. You had stone, you had bare hands, you had time.  :P

Incidentally, I really hope the deviations from game mechanics don't extend to demons knocking down walls...
