I had that happen when I tried to start a game without Sol. When Sol exists, it seems to work perfectly fine, so... Might consider just doing 'Create Sol, go through one of its points to spawn a system, when finished detatch Sol from everything and leave it hanging'

I get the same results when I manually create Sol.

...Really? That's bloody weird.

I guess that just gives us more time to plot, though. And makes fighters a lil' more viable in a gun role.

Oh, a common problem is that some system images are missing, you need to copy and rename some. Its all in the official forums.

Oh, have you played this game before and are you in the US? A common source of a heap of bugs is that the guy who made this programmed it to only accept american notations and the like. I.e. to indicate decimal numbers Americans use a dot (.) instead of a comma (,) so when people outside the us install this game that for some reason is depended on the computer settings it gets all the decimal numbers wrong. So 0.5 would be a half in the US but elsewhere the computer reads it as zero and five.

To solve this you have to change your computer internal language to american English or its decimal system from comma to dot. The forums have guides explaining how to.

Of course, the cause may be something else. Aurora is not exactly the most stable game. By some strange turn of fate my first game became unplayable from the accumulated weight of all the bugs the exact same day the new major version (6.00) was released. So it was a win in a loss, since I would have started a new game anyway.

I fixed the missing planet images, it's not that. (And that whole bug is the laziest issue I've ever seen in a software program... I write code that wouldn't crash if it can't find a file. In fact, I think he may have had to re-write the image loading program just to have it not work in that particular way.

The problem, PTTG??, seems to lie in the beginning without a pregenerated Sol system and especially without a human empire. Possibly because the SM Race as it stands has no Environment variables. It may be possible that, by creating the Sol system and a human race, you might be able to create both other races, too, but I wouldn't count on it. However, the next patch will, probably, fix that. It's status is, according to [1] trying to be finished the just ended weekend, so it hopefully will be just around the corner.

In case the Loyalist faction'll need some kind of advisor and/or ship designer (without any knowledge, intelligence or other unnecessary qualities for that post), I'd be happy to join them.

Good news! Initial testing shows the divided by zero error has cleared up in 6.21 (at least). So with any luck, the games can begin!

...And then the Dissidents can enjoy the marvelous gift of low orbit tanning lasers, courtesy of the Loyalists.

I really want to, but everything has pretty much exploded IRL. It's annoying. Every time I want to do something like this, stuff gets crunked.

I'm not saying I won't do this eventually, just that I need to take care of some IRL stuff first.

No stress, RL definitely is much, much more important.

If you start this eventually, drop me a message, I'd be happy to (re)join.

I want in, make me a commander of the dissents.
I'd love to wield a mother-ship or any sort of large ship.
You can make me a captain of a colony ship whilst you get the resources of the mother-ship ^.^
Name me fernicius, preferably male.

Edit-{ Sorry if i sound bossy }

Pretty sure this is dead. We haven't heard anything since early December, so I'd assume PTTG??'s not in a position to do this.

I think someone did some kind of turnip-sacrificing ritual that lost me my job, so now I will have time. I am starting a business, but I'll speed a lot of time watching machines do things for me, so either I'll succeed or I'll have plenty of time to play Aurora.

That sucks pretty hard... I do wish you luck with the new business endeavour. What're you aiming to do, if you don't mind talking about it?
