That's just Neonivek. He's never happy unless he's complaining about something.

Went into this very cynical, but I must say that I am pleasantly surprised after watching the video. Shall watch eagerly as I have no capital of my own to spend on this.

Edit: I hope for being able to use your spells in multiple ways, like as a light source.

The fights are actually incredibly realistic - this is basically how unskilled fighters fight, in my experience.

Obviously, giving them skill is going to be difficult, but what they have is pretty amazing.

And you'd think this forum over all others would appreciate gameplay elements being simulated instead of remaining abstract as usual

Naw, I just have taken up bringing up every power word when a game is advertised.

I never said anything bad about the game. Only so much that I hope people don't turn a blind eye to actual gameplay elements.

The procedurally-generated animations are a HUGE factor of the gameplay. Claiming that they aren't is like saying that micromanagement isn't part of Dwarf Fortress' gameplay.

Dwarf Fortress isn't "good" because it features micromanagement.

Likewise the "Proccedural animations" do not make this game good either and what happens a lot of the time is people will make excuses for gameplay because of these features.

All I am saying is that it is important to remain diligent and remember that under the "Procedural animations" there should be even greater gameplay to back it up.

It is better then confusing it for "Sue Generics"

I will say that the name isn't exactly... charged when you say it. "Suuuuiii Generis"

Might be appropriate though, seeing as the story they have described so far doesn't seem that original. :P

But man, could you imagine what could happen if the Engine used was open-sourced? The number of awesome games that could be made would be mind blowing amazing!

And thusly we shal recieve this on the personal computer, allowing for an easier time making total conversion mods.

Like I said before, the problem isn't that the animations affect the gameplay, it's that you don't seem to have much control over the animations that effect gameplay. You have a click to attack, but you don't get to choose what kind of attack you want to do. if I'm wrong and they actually have multiple ways to attack (holding CTRL for a low attack, shift for a powerful attack, that kinda thing) or being able to control the direction of your attack then the game would work much better. it also looks like the game would work better with WSAD controls for movement instead of the mouse so you can strafe and dodge. Your movement would be based on where the mouse is pointing (or just make the thing third person).

I do want this game to be good, but regardless of if they fix these things then it will be an interesting game, I just think that they could make it... more interesting =p

Also keep in mind I haven't read any of the text, just seen the videos. I should probably read that text, it probably afdresses some of my concerns... but reading takes time, waaahhhh

Does anyone other then me actually finds combat to be more comical then epic?

Just the akwardness of it all.

Ok, now after seeing it my "Beware Shield" is up.

Read the update and you will see a "We will be different" statement. Those are rarely a good thing to see.

New update on how much they hate linear stories and how much this is not going to force you down any paths!  Also, on comments, joke about adding alcohol for current drunkish animations was taken as a great idea. lol i guess?
