A request
« on: November 07, 2012, 04:01:42 am »

I'd totally would love to see a mod or even just a world created to look and feel like something out of Eragon (The books). I always wanted to shape a Farthen Dur "Our Father". A small lush valley with a river surrounded by gargantuan mountains leading up too the great hollowed out beast known as of course Fathehen dur and within it a whole land and a city; Tronjheim the great Dwarven capital of Alagaesia.

Yeah thats clouds inside the freaken mountain and that is WITHIN a mountain, I want to make that. Even though the city don't look as much, it's what on the inside that counts and underground. I recommend reading the books.

a) The modding section is that-a-way
b) Shitstorm incoming. Or maybe not.

I think he's referring to a mod as modification (of DF, in this case, maybe?) rather than moderator. Not entirely sure though.

At any rate, isn't this in the wrong forum if he's asking for a DF mod or world?

Yup, should be other games (games you wish exsisted) or DF modding.

Not a terrible mistake, all things considered. Now, while I seriously doubt we'd get a real flamewar with the semi justifiable problems with Inheritance.

Anyone read the fourth one? I never got around to it.

Nope, same here. The third dragged on too long with too much angst for my taste, so I never got around to read the fourth one.

The elitist Elfs killed it for me. And the general absurdity of the magic system.

The third one is with some large battle and the main char failing horrible right?

I stopped reading after the second book because of a combination of the painfully cliched everything, the "borrowed" and "inspired by" everything, and the fact that it felt like a badly written fanfic of what it might have been if the guy had been a competent author.

I liked the fourth one, probably better then I liked the third one. The ending ranks in at the second most anticlimactic one I've ever seen in a book though.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

The most anticlimactic was for a book trilogy called "The Rhapsody Trilogy".

The whole encounter made me think what it would be like if you have been fighting your way through all these crazy-powerful guards into an extremely guarded citadel and found an old dude sitting asleep in a wheelchair who wouldn't be strong enough to fight you if he wanted to.

I'm a staunch anti-shurtugaler.

That's all I have to say on Eragon.
