Sorry for the spoiler in my post. It's been fixed.

The intentionality is a narrative thing when(if) I get around to it later.

I dig deep quickly. For my play style it makes a lot of things easier. Although I wasn't expecting to find the magma sea in a usable way for another month or so.

Still haven't found water tho. Maybe it's in the cavern I didn't hit on the way down.

I don't know if you need other ideas when you have magma.

Going to start playing this.

Note that while you can still play the same map as us the entries for the game are closed. We'll ask you to refrain from posting about your progress here.

My fort is in ABSOLUTE chaos. Not a weapon smithed yet and with no lack of enemies. Bunch of wrestler dorfs running around.

Well everyone I didn't think I'd say it so soon but I'm out.

A voracious cave crawler killed 2 or 3 elite wrestlers and the rest of the recruits. I was invaded by 10-15 crundles, 3-5 trogs, 1 troll, 4 blobs, 7 crawling eyes, and 1 cave crawler.

This all happened within about 5-10 minutes irl time. I didn't even think it was possible for so many enemies to spawn and honestly it would have been fine had the cave crawler not came in. By the time the troll came I had 2 elite wrestlers and they were breaking every bone in his body while my recruits were punching his head in so he was no problem but that crawler..

I'll update later with some pics and the whole story.

Good luck to everyone and I look forward to the next round.

I'm afraid sir that you did not make the listings. I may update them though as some players seem to be mia and it'd be nice to have a full 10.

Edit: I'll add you to the list considering I didn't specify in the OP earlier that we were full.

Well everyone I didn't think I'd say it so soon but I'm out.

 >:( I'd offer you one of two choices, if I had any to offer.

One is to simply restart.  We're in a 'rough neighborhood' if you would; some people could get no undead in the first 15 seconds of play and others could get more than 8.

Roll the dice again.  And again if you have to.  After all - if several of us survive and keep playing.... it could be weeks or months before this ends for all of us.

Tell me you didn't eagerly await this game for all those hours and many posts and longings to start, and careful doing of things right - to get a bad hand and be out of our game until further notice?  Sir, you are better than that.  I'd not treat a dog like that, it'd be like holding a toy over its head for a long time, watching it jump and jump, finally letting it catch the toy and giving it a single chew and headshake before taking the toy away, putting it on a high shelf, and telling the dog to go to bed.  I'm fonder of you than I am of most dogs I've known for a similarly short period of time.

The other choice is pick one of us, and ask for our save.  Continue with it.  Your fort and theirs will begin to diverge from that point, and all of us get to continue having fun.

Huzzah to your honorable nature!  Now get your gloves back on and get into the ring!

Definitely. How unfun would it be for the OP to be out in a couple hours.

Relaunch. And note it in the OP.

snippity snip

I would've felt really dirty starting over but if you and the others are okay with it I'll reclaim! I'll have to seal off that lower portion until I am far more ready than I was.

I did get a wave of undeath in the beginning that took two dorfen souls.

Hoping that cave crawler will still be within the cavern depths so I can just block it off.

Edit-

Wow Varnifane crazy fast progress! I must say I wasted a bit more time on the initial layout of my fort than you. I suppose as I get more experienced I'll learn more of what works for me.

Shame on me, I didn't even consider the 'reclaim' option.  That's the dwarfiest thing to do - and I think even more highly of you for picking that option (and as I start my own embark at last, I'll be examining my own head for why I didn't think of reclaiming as an option)

lol'd at cooking your dogs.

I'm not even sure how to embark upon the same area without reclaiming anyways without /die'ing the game world before it saves, which I did not do.

I really thought those 2 max level wrestlers would hogtie that crawler =c.

Start at the beginning...

16th Malachite 80

Migrants. Ten of them. Seven adults. Three children.

The plan is coming together nicely...
