*grins*  One vote for them all!

Ahh, I'm partial to the seaside.  My second choice remains for the valley surrounded by mountains.  My third choice would be for the mountains with the volcano and barely a trace of green on their southwest slope.

I'd be happy to play any of these maps though.  Just hope you won't shake your finger at me to much if my playstyle's to unorthodox!

Assuming Imp's choice is his own it goes

mavj96 mirthful/sinister map - 1
Imp evil ocean tri biome - 2

We can all wait a little bit longer and get some votes, then we can officially start :).

There will be no such finger-shaking! I'm hoping everyone does well and has interesting events happen for them. Personally I'm gonna have a damn time trying to desalinize water if we get the ocean side, couldn't do that anyway without the undead critters sneaking through the well!

Ohhhhh dear.

What did you mean by unorthodox anyway?

*delighted laughter*  I've never kept a map where I had to desalinize either.  And I've not played an unmodded game in a looong time.  This'll be a lot of fun methinks, whatever embark we go with, and whatever challenges we face.

Unorthodox?    :-\

Ahh, I rarely have much of a military.... I sometimes have no military.  When I do need a soldier somewhere, I do tend to draft whomever happens to be around that spot.  Equipment?  There's no time, go distract that ting now please.  Traps, lots and lots of traps.  Typically every dwarf has almost every labor enabled.  Hidden merchant path and such.  Quantum stockpiles, very very fond of those (If you consider those cheating, lets debate that, mmm?  They're pretty important to me).  Atypical uses of dumping.  Rarely use what would typically be called a 'room', more giant caverns.  Probably a few other oddnesses.  Nothing unique, of course.  Just not how many seem to enjoy playing.

You know I actually think a lot of people do something similar as far as military/traps go. I like the idea of a few of my dorfuses being heroes by way of slaying great beasts, I suppose your heroes would be your engineers. Quantum stockpiling isn't a cheat really to me although I don't know everything about it. I don't like big glitches that give huge/quick easy rewards, like the one stated in the rules. Deconstructing your trade post for goods is really really weak in my opinion, it's not even much a task to dispatch caravans.

If we can't get another vote here in another 10 mins or so I think we'll start, we've all waited long enough.

I'm going to want screenies of your games everyone :).

If we can't get another vote here in another 10 mins or so I think we'll start, we've all waited long enough.

Much as I hate to urge you to wait, I urge you to wait.  I'll edit this to explain why.

edited to add:

We have 10 participating people, several were active and offered embarks.... you even called the end of the voting for 10 PM!  People voted.... and then you extended the time, just for me.

Thanks!  I had fun putting together my offering.

But now we have a new vote, with only 3 participants (the last one had 5 by the time you were about to end the vote).  The winning map is the one with the most votes, right?  That would be -yours-, from the original voting pole.

We haven't let the other participating people (surely sound asleep) even see there's a new vote....

I'd cry to think that my suggestion won with half the votes of the actual winning map, and with one of the votes it got coming from me and with 70% of our players unable to participate.

Still, you're our OP!  And your choice rules cause we let it rule  8)

Just dont let your eagerness overcome other people's enjoyment and participation in our shared game?

I'll be happy with any map!

Imp's looks fun, for sure.

Wait for some others to weigh in though I guess (since I need to sleep anyway)

Bagh, I let the excitement get the best of me, I'll reform the poll and we'll end it at 6 pm tomorrow.

Again, making newby mistakes with these things. One more day couldn't hurt I suppose.

Goodnight everyone, apologies for the instability, I think we've come to a good conclusion.

Thank you both again for providing me with some more patience and sense.

We'll see where we are tomorrow at 6!

Don't forget to vote!

One more suggestion - typically community game posts are in the 'DF Community Games & Stories' part of the forum.  Of course, this IS a DF Dwarf Mode Discussion.... but maybe once the vote's over and we're really ready to start play, shall we shift to a thread where threads like this shall become tend to be most welcome and wanted?

I think thats a great idea! also somebody should sum up the rules again in the new Thead so its clear for everyone and no mistakes happen.

I definitely think we should move this to the community forum once we start.

Thanks for waiting.

I'm open for whatever and have started my plans for every embark mentioned.

Also, I think that if some of us need to go 4X4 we should all go 4X4 otherwise it's not really a level playing field.
