Outbreak.
« on: November 05, 2012, 05:41:39 pm »

It has been a month since the outbreak. Something like in a movie, book, or some cliche' internet choose-your-own-adventure game on some forum for madmen, but the world has been overrun by the living dead. In this world, it is every man or woman for themselves. By now, there are small civilizations all over the world that have reclaimed small towns, or sections of cities, and are managing to live, and try to restore humanity.

It's funny how that never works, as you are walking down the highway with a scarce amount of supplies. You had just fled Dawsonville, a small town that was pretty heavily fortified, one of the only safe havens for miles and miles. It has probably stopped burning to the ground by now, and lies in a bunch of hot cinders from the raiding party that just crashed through it yesterday.

Damn bandits.

You now find yourself on the road, heading in a random direction. You have little supplies, no energy, and a lot of bruises, but you are alive, you lucky man... or woman. Which are you?

And a cricket bat, this is England and it's zombie mashing time, we must have a cricket bat for the appropriate head smashing.

Of course, you happen to be an English man with a bike and a quite solid cricket back.

Funny, you've never played cricket, except with the smashed remains of zombie heads.

As you pedal on your bike, it's quite eerie on how empty this road is. It's a small, two-lane road in some back country, so hopefully you can ride without much problem.

Anyway, the skills from your old job have helped you survive quite well. What was your old occupation?

We were an actor who acted in a couple independent horror flicks. Usually, we were a bus driver, but actor sounds more impressive.

Your acting days have made you quite charismatic, and you are actually pretty well known through-out Europe for a small-budget movie that seemed to become a big hit over the summer. You can imitate several accents, and imitate "I'll be back!" In Arnold's voice perfectly. You can tell lies, and be quite convincing, be able to embolden with your words and overly-dramatic actions. Your bus-driving days also gave you good social skills and an ability to drive larger vehicles, something many cannot do.

Anyway, besides your cricket bat and bike, you only managed to take three relatively medium-small sized items. What were they?

Combat knife, tent, and Kelly Kettle (a kind of kettle with a neat little spot for a fire to burn in the bottom, plus a chimney to let out smoke).

You have a backpack upon your back, holding a small tent inside. A combat knife with a serrated edge near the hilt rests in a small sheath on your waist.

You enjoy the ride for several minutes, taking in the scenery nearby. It truly is beautiful, the English countryside. You've lived close to Boston for nearly your whole life, never really seeing much of the rural areas. You probably never will go back to Boston, it's way, way too infected. It's the most dangerous place in England, hands down.

You come upon a fork in the road, one of the roads is not paved, just a bunch of very tightly packed, rutted earth leading into the forest, and the road you are on now apparently leads to a small town, called Bedale. The sign is rusting, and some moron defaced the sign so it reads, Population: Dead with the actual number painted black.

Pleasant. You think the dirt road might lead to a farm, as you can just faintly see large fields in the distance, the light-yellowish color of wheat waving lazily in the breeze.

Go to the farm house. Knock. If nobody answers, go inside, barricade the door and look for food, weapons and other useful supplies.

If somebody does answer, politely ask them for local information.
