Capturing FB with cave-in still possible?
« on: November 05, 2012, 03:13:06 pm »

Will an FB that destroys a support, still be knocked off it's feet by the cave in, causing a cage trap to spring on it?

IIRC FB's, titans, and HFS all have [NO_STUN], meaning they can't be caught through cave-in dust. You can catch them with webbed traps though.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

Hmmyeah, I know. I think I was the original poster of that method a few years back. But so far no GCS has wandered into any of my cages. I've only spotted one twice in the 40 years that my fort has been running.
Having a slate FB with deadly spittle roaming my caverns might making capturing one harder now as well.

I'm afraid it'll have to serve as archery practice target then.

Or trap it inside 2 drawbridges and stab it to death with menacing spikes.

And on top of that, build destroyers don't touches supports AFAIK. At least none that I've gotten have. You can still kill them through cave in, though, even with constructed floors.

And the web trap only works for FB and Titans that aren't webber, I believe :D

A building destroyer will only go after a support if the support is made of wood and the creature is undead; in the current version, "undead" seems to be equivalent to NOT_LIVING, which means that creatures made out of inorganic materials (such as martinuzz's slate FB) should qualify.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

That's good news indeed. I did build a wooden support. I've added a 3x3 stockpile on top of the soon to collapse ceiling with 9 lead coffins, for extra punch. I'll let you know the results.
