My enemy is my buddy?
« on: November 03, 2012, 02:20:42 pm »

I was told to fight around ten necromancers for my quest.  I  gathered up a bunch of companions, went there, and hid away while my companions were sacrificing their lives for me.  I see one necromancer running away outside the tower, so I run up to attack him.  "Are you sure you want to attack the dwarf trader necromancer?" I tried to see if I could talk to him, and we started talking like we weren't enemies!  (I even reported the death of a couple necromancers to him).  He was one of the necromancers I had to defeat, but it seems like I can't kill him...  He's also being the one reviving all the zombies around there because no one is attacking him.  What do I do?

The necromancer is trying to lull you into security with his words.  Do not listen!  He will kill you if given the chance, or, if not him, then the zombies he is reviving will.

I've already seen him attack my companions, but the main thing I'm wondering is if someone will get mad at me for attacking him (because of the "are you sure you want to attack the dwarf trader necromancer?").

Just go for it and see what happens.

First of all that message pops up when you are attacking a non hostile, but i'm sure you knew that. Also this has happened to me before but with mummies. Most likely what's going to happen if you leave it there is that it's going to follow you around and when it gets close enough rip your heart out. And if it doesn't the zombies will. The other more complicated issue is that he could be a friend to a civ you are friendly with.

You should either kill him and run, or grab one of the various books and tablets to become a necromancer yourself (assuming you can read). Night creatures are generally only friendly to other night creatures in my experience.

Well, I went for it,  and absolutely nothing happened, other than me killing him in one hit.

mostly their normal citizens wanting to live forever, and really friendly to any one they meet, it's just that the zombies are hardcoded to hate the living and they tend to go around attacking first.
if you are apart of the necro civ or an outsider you could get a necro as a companion though if you aren't undead your self you end up having his thralls attack you.

I did ask him to join me, but he said he was unfit to brave danger with me.

As you killed him in one shot, he was right.

Also, I'm getting aimage oof a necromancer running up and going "Hi mister! Can I have your autograph?" Look througn the tower for action figures figurines of you.

I think I killed him in one shot because I was a legendary swordsman...  Also, I later got killed from a night goblin raid before I finished the necromancers.
