I only have 4 free dwarves left, but a great deal of jobs (particularly military) available. Should I increase my pop cap to allow for more dwarves?

No - I'm not really that interested in claiming a dwarf anyways. If anyone wants one, take one of the 4 left.

no - look at how much work your doing! relax already!

yes - 5 or 10 more migrants are useful to the fort. Even if they're unclaimed, we'll need their labor.

yes - 20-30 more migrants are required - I want to be a king among peasants.

yes - I want nobles! lots of peasants! Give me arbitrarily huge peasant counts so that my guy doesn't need to do anything!

Winter is coming...

Melbil 'Malimbar' Linedwire

Because Malimbar was the enforcer for the whole journal thing, and he's dead, things will be more quiet. This is also true because most of the dwarves are training almost full time, so less artsy or interesting stuff is going on. Also, I'm getting lazy.

Hmm.Nobody seems to want to claim more dwarves.

Hopefully we won't have any more deaths.

Can I haz Zon Bashuzel? Name her "Derpislava" and make her a wood cutter/axedorf, if it's okay with your plans.

I am content with the progress of my dorf :) Though, I am a little disturbed by his lack of understanding about the dangers of spoilerite. I hope that he does not do anything stupid that will get him nommed by the denizens of the circus tent.

Digging's a lot like surgery, see -- you grab the sharp thing and then drive the sharp end of the sharp thing in as hard as you can and then stuff goes flying and then stuff falls out and then there's a big hole and you're done. I kinda wish there was more screaming, but rocks don't hurt so I guess it can't be helped.

Just FYI, I seriously debated just killing the fort. My dwarf is dead, things make less sense to me now, and I'm still kind've wondering where to take this. You guys replied, and I looked for a way to upload the last save, just in case I stopped.

And while looking at the previous posts (I'm sure there is a recommendation somewhere), I realized I missed a bunch of major points for things that people do! How did I forget these things! Also, forgot that you guys wanted more pictures of things. I'll see what I can do.

And !!Troll Fur Sock!!, I don't have a Zon Bashuzel. So... did you mean Zon Rashuzol (Zon Diedoiled)? Or did you want someone else? BTW, this is our second woodcutter/axedwarf combo. Just FYI, I can only have one of those in use at a time, as the job woodcutter interferes with using an axe in practice. I have no problem trying to accomodate, but you should probably know.

And just for everyone else's amusement, here is the last save file (27 MB 7z file): https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BxtYyDIchB5dQWk1Ql9kenhMOVE

And I'll have the next update (hopefully more detailed and such) by tonight.

Well, it's pretty hard to read with a screen like this.

So, if you need any military, I'd like her to use hammer of spear. If not... Maybe armor/weaponsmith or mechanic?

Damn...what are the odds of taking time to make a fort, getting the community involved...and then have your own dwarf die.  :(

Worst part, he died while claiming my dwarf's workshop.  :'( R.I.P 'Malimbar' Linedwire

Atleast he wasn't the first to die.

Very true. That would suck differently :)

Just to clear things up, I don't mind so much that my guy died, but I mind that he was kind've my excuse for running the fort in this direction or that direction.

Yeah, my head is done. Armok has spoken, and it says "screw this, I'm making a new world for myself". If anyone wants to take it up, I'd say start from the last save I uploaded. It's a decent starting point :)
