Malachite 22, 129Migrants have arrived at Boltaura. Another ten citizens have decided to leave their homes in search of a new life here. I don’t know what they were expecting but I’ve assigned them all hauling duties. I’ve also given them an advanced warning: If they don’t stay busy they will be conscripted. Laziness is not tolerated here in Boltaura.
Galena 12, 129Another human caravan has arrived today. I’ve ordered goods to the depot. This time I must make sure that our friends are able to leave instead of being slain by raiders. If they don’t leave their leaders will surely think that we killed the merchants ourselves. We cannot afford a war with the humans; we don’t have the manpower or the equipment to resist their sieges.
Galena 16, 129The Bugbears have returned. It has been many months since we have seen their kind at our fortress. The last time they showed their faces they were slain by our brave soldiers. The army they have sent is larger than it has ever been before. To make matters worse it is led personally by their Hobgoblin general; Idare Eminoapufi. If we slay him it would surely be a blow the Bugbears cannot recover from. I’ve ordered everyone inside and the militia to the gates. We will show them once again that Boltaura will not fall to their kind.
Galena 18, 129The enemy continues to charge the depot. Seeing as we have far fewer numbers than they I’ve ordered all soldiers into defensive positions in the barrack halls. We will wait for them to come to us. We cannot afford soldiers running headfirst into a squad of their soldiers
Galena 23, 129I have grave news today. Both Neo and Kale have fallen in battle. Our soldiers are fighting a losing war. We have lost over thirty dwarves. The sheer size of the Bugbears and their number have outmatched our dwarven steel. I had no choice but to conscript citizens and order them to hold the entrance. They need to reinforce what soldiers are left fighting. I’ve placed Card in charge of the militia and Saegge as his second in command. Their skill with the hammer and pick will give them an advantage over a random citizen. I fear I may have to use the bunker sooner than expected.
Limestone 1, 129We did it. We have managed to drive the bugbears off but at a great cost. Over sixty dwarves have fallen in the battle. Only eighty of us remain now. Among the fallen lay Neo, Kale, and Card. Neo and a few dwarves broke through the line of macemen to cut off their reinforcements but they were eventually overwhelmed by the advancing Bugbears. Kale fell while leading the militia in an effort to hold the defensive line and prevent the Bugbears from entering the fortress. Card did not enter the battle until after our defensive line was broken. He fell while leading a heroic charge into the ranks of the Bugbears. His forces continued to push back the wall of enemies and take back the entrance ultimately routing their remaining troops.
Limestone 13, 129Riots are in full effect in the fortress. Citizens everywhere are throwing tantrums, being stricken by melancholy and even going insane. I fear the number of the dead may increase with all of the fighting between citizens. Even with all of my efforts it is almost impossible to maintain order in the fortress. I fear while the Bugbears may not have been our end they might very well have started it.
OOC: I've been updating a lot because I've been playing a lot. I'd rather update as it happens than to backlog it for later.
