That blasted king tricked me. I was his head chef at the mountainhome, I was earning 38 million Urists a year, and he said this place was full of ripe ingredients for my cooking. He even said he was going to double my pay! That bastard just sent me to this wasteland without any of the money in my bank. He's probably taken it all by now. I'll show him.....

(Note: the 38 million urists thing is accurate, Gordon Ramsey earns $38 million a year and is the highest paid chef in the world. RANDOM FACT OVER)
(and also, what mod are you using that adds chaos dwarves, Xelics, bastard swords, etc?)

Kale's journal
I rarely have time to write anymore. I will log the events important to me.

Galena 24, 128
When I decided to visit my old friend Vinzenz, I found him dead, in his bed.
Apparently none of the doctors decided to give him water.
Pity, He was a good dwarf, and may be missed.
I assume Neo will become the new militia commander.
I really hope he doesn't make his sword, his second-in-command...

Galena 25, 128
I have become a name of legends.
For some reason my new title is Distincthurricane Insight. Strange.

OOC: I finally have internet back, so I can follow this fort more often :D

Galena 27, 128
I’ve ordered the miners to begin digging straight down. I told the others of the search for the precious metal. Saegge looked at me as if I had lost my mind, Fishy seemed intent on crafting with the revered metal, and Neo; Neo just sat there drooling and unresponsive. I can only imagine the thoughts going through his head at the prospect of an Adamantine sword or several of them. I’ve also promoted Neo to the position of Militia commander. After Vinzenz’s passing he will need a suitable replacement.

One of the recruits recovering in the hospital has been stricken with melancholy and has lost the will to live. It seems she her husband and a friend lay among the dead from the last battle.

The miners have found a large cavern further underground. I’ve ordered them to dig an entrance and the militia to scout it. I can only wonder what type of beasts live this far below the surface. At least they should be valuable.

WE HAVE FOUND IT! ARMOK BE PRAISED! I’ve ordered the miners to excavate the vein immediately. From this we will forge the finest armor and weaponry for our soldiers.

Two more dwarves have been killed. A giant ant killed a hauler and knocked a farmer into the lake where he proceeded to drown before making it out. Afterwards Neo made quick work of the ant. It would also seem that a blind cave ogre has wandered into our traps. I do not know what the beast could be useful for but I will figure something out.

Limestone 20, 128
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Another blind cave ogre has been spotted. It attacked Saegge but luckily he managed to slay the beast by himself. They might be giant beasts but they are not much of a threat due to their blindness. The mining of the Adamantine continues. Several dwarves have barged into my office demanding me to halt the mining operations. They’ve all used the old stories of the demons that would rise from the Adamantine to strike down any who would mine to much of the metal. I am familiar with these stories and I will stop when we have enough.

Sandstone 11, 128
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I have drawn up plans for the miners to dig a bunker hidden behind my bedroom. Inside I will have food, drink and armaments stashed. I will fall back to this bunker in should there be a scenario where we have no chance to survive. I will then hide away until the threat has dissipated or until migrants show up and we can rebuild the fortress. I will tell the miners that it will be used for everyone but secretly I plan to seal the entrance as soon as I am inside. I cannot risk a hostile entity chasing in after me. I must survive and continue to run Boltaura at all costs.

Sandstone 12, 128
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
On my way to deliver the plans to Saegge I was greeted by a most disgusting sight. Saegge and Brewster were strolling through the halls holding hands and making out. Saegge would not pay attention until I finally hit him across the back of his head with a chalk block. As he turned around I quickly gave him the plans and turned to walk away as quickly as I could while trying not to vomit.

Can you butcher cave ogres? If not, you should change dwarven ethics in the entity_default file so you can.

I meant to initially but I didn't and it would require a world regen to work.

Kale's journal.

Sandstone 12,128
I was wandering our halls, when I saw Reaver hitting Saegge on the head with a rock block, while Brewster was looking at him shocked.
My first instinct was to arrest Reaver on spot. But several reasons prevented me from not doing it.
1. Reaver is my boss.
2. Reaver would probably throw me into jail.
3. I really don't trust Saegge, and assumed he was doing something wrong.
So instead, I hid, and eavesdropped.
Apparently, Reaver wanted to build a bunker for the entire fortress in case demons from hell were unleashed.
I noticed he said he wanted it to be built in his room. IN HIS ROOM!!!
What in the name of Armok?!?! If it's for the entire fortress, why is it in his room?
I suspect it's for him, and him only. I will play along with his plans for now...
I am going to go up to him later, and demand a fail-safe device. If demons are truly unleashed, We must not let them reach the surface...

OOC: I wanted to be the first to do that...

I'll try then. I've tried it before but I never thought it worked.
