Opal 5, 127Dwarves are having babies everywhere. I need to figure out a way to deal with all of these children. A field trip to the caverns maybe?
Opal 17, 127The leatherworker has gone insane. He now stands in his shop demanding resources as usual. I look forward to seeing what he creates.
Opal 22, 127A harp? That’s a rather elven thing to make for an artifact. Not to mention all of the spikes. How are you supposed to play an instrument covered in spikes? Some of these dwarves are really starting to disturb me. On second thought, why is there a throne on it? Is this dwarf seeking to steal my seat as mayor? I'm on to him now. His arrogance will be his end.
Opal 23, 127A woodcutter was struck down in the caverns. He was attacked by a troll. Witnesses report that troll was unharmed from the fight. Why the woodcutter didn’t use his steel axe is beyond me. On top of that the other woodcutter is now cut off from the fort with the troll between him and the bridge. I’ve dispatched the militia to deal with the troll threat. They haven’t had some live training in ages.
Opal 26, 127The troll has been struck down. Once again Kale was the first and the only one to engage. I don’t know if it’s because he’s fast, wants all the glory or he’s really just that stupid. He managed to slay the beast without being hurt as well. We’ve also laid the woodcutter to rest. We are now at a total of 4 deaths in Boltaura: three due to hostile creatures and one due to an execution. As of now the birth rate more than doubles the death rate so our population should remain stable unless there is some sort of disaster.
Obsidian 2, 127There is a system of caves at the end of the caverns that we don’t have the ability to explore. I believe these caves are where creatures such as the trolls are coming from. I've devised a plan to trap them in this area. I will have it walled off with a single trap lined corridor leading from the edge to the inner areas. I will use the two best baits for catching creatures: A kitten on a rope in front of a wooden door. Nothing could resist a combination like this. We are also nearing the end of our second year in Boltaura. I will have to create new sketches of the fortress reflecting the new changes to our home.
Obsidian 11, 127A hobgoblin caravan has arrived today. I’ve ordered more excess trinkets to be sent to the depot. I wonder why every race loves dwarven trinkets so. It must be a great boost to Cogs’s ego. Everyone loves his trinkets. He’s also managed to make some nice figurines about the fortress. Some of them even depicting our enemies being struck down. I’ve also recently noticed that the vamari caravan still hasn’t left our depot. They no longer wish to trade saying they’ve departed yet they just sit there. I think they're trying to live here for free. We must figure out how to get rid of them.
Obsidian 13, 127Curses! We have been besieged. A force of bugbear pikemen lead by an axeman mounted on… a stork? Is this like the great evil stork sent to take babies away instead of delivering them to parents? If so it can have all of them. I’ve sent the militia to the gates and ordered all citizens inside. Not a single one of these creatures has any real armor to be spoken of. Our lookouts report that they only wear metal caps and leather clothing. This should be an easy fight. I might also be able to let them get close enough for the vamari to engage. They could be useful instead of continuing to sit in my depot doing nothing but taking up space.
For some reason the game keeps forgetting the nicknames I've set for the dwarves. It's forgotten both Cog's and Kale's.
