Malachite 4, 128Summer is proving uneventful after the siege. We are still cleaning up the mess left behind. I’ve also been informed that the corpse of the forgotten one was allowed to rot instead of being butchered. Ramsey was rather upset at this. I blame the butcher for wasting valuable not doing his damn job when he needed to be butchering animals instead of letting the potential food go to waste.
Malachite 7, 128A child has been stricken by a mood. He claimed Cogs’s workshop for his own and threw Cogs out. The child is now screaming for yarn cloth of which we have none. I have yet to see what happens when the crazed individuals fail to finish their artifact. I suppose he’ll just stand there screaming for the cloth until he dies of dehydration.
Malachite 16, 128More migrants have arrived. This time we have received a much smaller wave of ten. I had hoped for more but I will take what I can get. I’ve enlisted all of them and I’ve placed Kale in charge of the new squad. Fishy’s current work will ensure they at least have swords to train with at this time. I will see that their armor is completed soon. The majority of our casualties so far have been because a lack of armor on our soldiers.
Galena 13, 128Two caravans have arrived at once! I still don’t understand why the Xelic’s are sending caravans. We’ve murdered every caravan they’ve sent and yet each year they send one bigger than the last. Oh well. I’ve ordered more goods to the depot so that we may trade. I’m very interested to see the Human caravan’s goods. They’ve always been a solid trading partner for the dwarves. They normally bring bring well-made weapons, a ton of food, and lots of booze.
Galena 14, 128We’ve been besieged by the nefarious Chaos Dwarves. They were once dwarves like us but have been corrupted by the demons of lore. Luckily they’re numbers are few and they lack any ranged weaponry. I’ve ordered the militia to engage them. Normally I would use the merchants as padding but I do not wish to lose the human caravan.
Galena 21, 128The plan of protecting the merchants has failed horribly. Our militia did not get to the surface in time to prevent the slaughter. It would also seem that our mechanics do nothing around the fortress. They’ve had months and plenty of empty cages but only a few of our entrance traps have been reloaded. Without the traps the Chaos Dwarves march into our military level where the militia awaits them.
Galena 23, 128The siege has been broken. We’ve lost another two soldiers. The chaos dwarves proved to have better equipment than our militia and stood a fair fight. It also doesn’t help that the majority of the militia is untrained and those that are trained are the ones dying in battle.
Galena 24, 128Vinzenz and another recruit have been found dead in the hospital. It seems regardless of having doctors and nurses with no other duties still do not ensure the wounded are fed or given water. I do wonder what the point of a hospital is if no one bothers to pay attention to those in need of care. It has also been brought to my attention that the child who took Cogs’s workshop in the previous month has gone insane. He now wanders the halls speaking in odd tongues and refuses any food or water. Cogs has resumed his work like nothing happened.
Galena 25, 128After the battle it seems Kale has proven himself to have a name of legends. From now on he shall be known as Kale Judgepage Distincthurricane Insight. Yet another soldier has been found dead at the depot. I need to figure out a way to strengthen our militia. They need better training and better equipment but I’m not sure how to make progress in either direction. The Chaos Dwarves used many metals we do not have the resources for. The only thing I can think of is to attempt to search for the fabled Adamantine.
