Every time you equip the C4 launcher, I exclaim: "WRONG GUN!"

And so far, I've been right every time. Seriously: fires shots that deal enormous amounts of damage to you, yet can't fly more than a few metres ahead. And if you miss, you now have to defuse your own explosives or they'll happily kill you. Best of all, you almost never face two or more enemies close enough together that the splash damage would be useful.

Am I missing something, or is there really no possible reason for the C4 Launcher to exist?

It exists for the same reason as the gloves with the motor strapped to them: Because John Romero is insane IN THE WRONG BLOODY WAY.

I actually reference something to this affect, in the next video of course.

First of all: Who designed these bases?  Dr. Eggman?  Robot frogs, robot mice with rocket launchers, robot crocodiles?  Who designs self-aware robots and then makes them frogs?  And who puts rockets on a mouse and then doesn't put lasers on the crocodiles?

Second: I keep expecting the next video to just be you cussing for like three minutes straight, just nonstop swearing until the video cuts out.

Third: I like how the rocket launcher becomes standard after a while.  It's like "Fuck it, I'm blowing everything to hell."  Similarly, using 6 shotgun shells against an unarmed and oblivious union worker.

I also feel like this game is best played in one sitting, so that the rage can fester properly.  If you take breaks, you lose out on the raw hatred.

It works in the first level when you are infultrating. You know hidden security measures that are nice to look at. Like the rock cameras people have.

Now why Frogs KEEP showing up even after you are deep into the enemy base is beyond me.

Re: Let's play - Daikatana - Nitrogen gel?
« Reply #51 on: November 10, 2012, 04:52:23 am »

This game is just confusing now, nitrogen gel? Wouldn't the room either be so full of nitrogen to be unbreathable, or so cold that it would kill you even without touching it? Some doors are even glitched so that I need to noclip through them to activate them from the other side. Not to mention this entire level was a death trap to superfly, it took me several tries to get him through because he would fall into the nitrogen.

Well at this point in the game most of my weapons are completely useless, they simply don't do enough damage to kill things. Only the shotgun and rocket launcher can.

And there is no way I'm playing this in one sitting.

Also: enemy weapons. Why do all the guards in this game have nothing but handguns?

You find lots of ammo for your crazy rocket launchers, and ion blasters, and C4 launchers scattered around the base. (Heck, you originally found the weapons themselves in the base!) This would be plausible if the guards were armed with these crazy weapons. Instead, they've got handguns, completely boring except for their amazing ability to reliably self-destruct when their handler is killed.

You've got 'camouflaged' robots in ventilation shafts, and guards neglecting the abundant ion blaster ammo in favour of terrible handguns. What part of this enemy design makes sense?

Given how hard it is to use some of these weapons without dying (see: Ion blaster that can't be aimed perpendicular to the walls or it'll come right back at you, C4 Launcher that can't seem to launch far enough away to get its user out of the area of effect, shotgun that continues to fire after you let go of the trigger, etc), it seems like the shitty handguns they use are the logical choice.

That Shotgun from what I am aware of is actually one of, if not the, best weapon in the game in terms of efficiency to damage ratio.

It is the second best, after the rocket launcher. I'll admit that.

"Be careful, the nitrogen gel kills on contact."
"No, Superfly.  I think YOU need to be careful."

I wonder what wonderful fighting ability the Daikatana will have. The sheer destruction it will cleave with every swing!

Clearly the Daikatana will uttarly change the gameplay of the game is a deep and dramatic way. Possible what the entire engine was based off of.
