New update today. Not on the members area yet as it was so late I just managed to get the Steam build uploaded before my live stream. Will get it up tomorrow.

This one adds smelting which ups the complexity of material management a bit, a manifest screen to track base items, air venting systems to mess about with your base's atmosphere, aesthetic items such and lamps and also a good lump of bug fixes for good measure.

Link broke. Fixed that at the weekend.

If anyone's interested in the new build I am streaming some of it this afternoon. Lots of new features including the full thermal simulation being turned on, a new mission and events, rewritten room placement interface, bunch of new wall items and custom colour controls for lights and objects. Will be on from 4pm: http://www.twitch.tv/simoroth

Yep so in 20 minutes.

Edit: Also no point playing 0.53 now. 0.54 is 36 hours away. :)

Swear I posted already but 0.54 is now out and fixes a lot of issues. Also adds a lot more depth with the game's heat simulation now switched on and balanced.

With more customisation and management I can see people starting to get into it a bit more.

Edit: Members area will go up as soon as I've cornered a critical bug on the new Ubuntu.  :'(

New update is out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MF4tRY-Av88 Beta is nearly in sight. Still looking at a monstrous amount of work to get done but it's getting better in big steps now.

Update notes here: https://blog.maiagame.com/maia-update-0-55-pressure-drop/

And it's up on the members area already for those who like the DRM free versions.

Next update will focus on the medical stuff, like first aid, diseases and the scanner. Also meals and food prep.

Did a few hotfixes last week. Nailed a pathfinding bug that made placing a lot of stuff better. Although people's main bugbear is the AI - still get piles of bad reviews over it. I am going to do an aggressive bug push again and hopefully smooth it out for people. I should encourage players to read the emails more, as they are now pretty clear in saying what they specifically want. Or maybe add brief little advisor popups to make this disgustingly obvious.

Also - On sale this week if anyone's interested.

Ok new big update is ready.  :o

This one is focusing on the bugs rather than new features. But in the process the food and stockpiling mechanisms got a pretty decent over hall.

WHOA steam does NOT like this game... But since none of the reviews are... recent to the patch...

Does the patch alleviate the issues people are talking about?

I'm hoping it does. I have spent a lot of time in the last 2-3 updates fixing the AI stupidity, the thing that most complain about. Some of the anger is at how long the game has been in Early Access, or that people have certain expectations from a management game that I am trying to subvert, but not making it clear enough. Eg: Presenting a minimalistic interface and avoiding GUI - a lot of people have a pretty fixed idea of what a sim game's interface should be like.

Either way I'll keep working and reworking to smooth out the things that grate. With the latest video I played the best part of half an hour without issue - and our tests had games up to ten hours without significant problem (apart from running out of stuff to do in the sandbox.)

We'll see. Maybe this latest patch will see us getting some decent reviews again and it going back up.  :(

Early access reviews are often shitty because people buy an unfinished game while expecting a finished product, then rant about lacking features and bugs. That is like buying an unfinished framework of a car from a car factory, then complaining that you are losing in street racing.

The game has a lot of potential but there just isn't much to actually do right now. I haven't had any crashes or problems, mostly just got bored and stopped playing. I know this is just because its unfinished though, so I don't write bad reviews about it. I just wait and watch what new content you put in. :)
