Just like before, making a base work will take many restarts due to people refusing to build whatever they need to survive, or going braindead.
However, at least to me, it's clearly getting better. Once we get any way to prioritize work orders, it'll be playable without requiring restarts.
I just don't have the patience nowadays to blaze through bugs (my tolerance goes around to 2 gamebreaking/restarting bugs before I drop something), so I can't give a detailed report. But simroth seems to be aware of what's necessary to make it fun, and that's always nice and important.

By the way, simroth, not sure if you're aware, but if you build a room and delete it (Control+Click?), you can delete cave tiles (sections/blocks).
This can lead to disasters, like exposing all of your colonists to the outside environment, and killing your atmosphere.
Let's just say that was the last Fun I had.  :P

PS: Just to be clear, sometimes people don't go braindead and you can play a new game for a while without bumping into a bug. So it's really hard say.

It honestly feels like a lot of their problems came from the fact that their entire team was composed of cats, and the people who were supposed to be herding them were also cats.

I also had people complaining about fatigue even after I built some beds, then dying of fatigue despite four empty beds. Only one colonist seemed to ever take a nap.

Goddamnit...

"Oh sorry we're too hungry to build the FUCKING HYDROPONICS BAY WHICH WOULD FEED US"

I have to admit that has always kind of bugged me in a lot of games. Where the people you control end up too deprived and so they refuse to work towards saving themselves.

So guys how is Maia looking now?

Yeah, I hate when my Dwarves do that.

Just pushed 0.51. Adds in some swanky new chicken AI and 3 stand alone missions. A pretty hefty update that will hopefully get people playing the game a little. :)

I know this genre isn't a new thing but it's crazy how many space colony sims are being worked on right now. This, Planetbase, Sol 0, probably others I missed. Rimworld doesn't count.

I wonder how many black hole simulators with clever names will spring up if/when science turns its attention to them.

They all stole my idea. ;)

:(

Started a new game, dug out and built my first room.

Colonists finished the room with the IMP in the wall. Now it can't move.

Also are solar panels supposed to generate power at night? Mine's putting out like 50w.

True, and I'm so happy with that. I used to play A LOT of StarTopia as a kid and I always (up to today) wanted a sequel, and most games in this genre has nice similarities.

As a heads up, Sol 0 has potential and is a little dorfy sometimes, but really needs work.
And Planetbase has a nice presentation but it's too much of a "miss any detail and everyone stops working and slowly dies simulator", but maybe the post-release patches can make it less annoying (because most of it is caused by colonists completely stop working and being useful when they have an unmet need at around 30-40% - making him drain resources and roam around for enough time to every one else to enter in that state too).

You should leave that in, as long as it awards science points for doing so.  :P :P

Yeah Sol 0 definitely needs.. work.

I've experienced that problem in Planetbase multiple times. First time I screwed myself with power. Ok, my fault. Next colony all became zombified due to malnutrition (my current colony is doing better but I wish you could tell the meal makers what to do and not do). Next colony got fucked because my one medic became malnourished and went to sleep forever. I didn't even know they couldn't treat themselves until all of my workers got radiated and lined up near medbay and died. I should have just brought in a second medic.

Anyway I'll stop derailing this thread. Fuck yes, realistic chair physics

Hey, that's EXACTLY my experience! hahaha
Except I took that next step of bringing another medic in my fourth attempt. One got malnourished and the other god misteriously hurt, they both decided to stop working and the fate of the colony was the same as always.
It's pretty sad - I actually was going to ask them to give me a beta invite so I could piss them off with bug reports, but I don't have much time (and no patience) atm.

Simoroth, you do realize you have the task of finishing Maia and saving this genre, don't you?
Bwhahaha.

Sol 0 and Planetbase are very... shallow. They aren't much more than the original Moonbase (1990) with pretty graphics and in some ways are less. Maia is doing quite a bit more under the hood.
