Is anyone else noticing colonists building themselves into rooms with no exit, thus resulting in their deaths?
Very dwarvenly.
:D

Ok AI bug is fixed. Productivity is now way up.

I've thrown up some more fixes on the members area and Steam tonight. I think tommorrow I'm going to do another IMP AI pass. Maybe put a few more things in his infotip too.

Speaking of infotips... have you considered giving us the option of seeing that stuff in a more solid interface element, like a window or sidebar? It's really irritating trying to mouse over people, and reading all the data in an graded tape drive can be infuriating. The Text Also Gets Hard To Read because Of The Lack Of a dark background.

Yeah I've experimented with what to do about the background. There will be a backlay to make it more readable.

As for the other stuff I am going to be minimising a lot of it as things like the tape drive have way too much info in. Instead the research descriptions will come as emails queued up the top or something a lot easier to digest.

In true DF style, they seem remarkably unconcerned about their ignition.

0.49 is out on Steam (members area build will go up on Monday). Adds social needs and interactions. Also emotions and rifles.

I've made a 20 min gameplay video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HppJYyOpQ6c

And also a more trailery video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdCIKHkMmds

It's starting to feel like it's got some proper depth to it now. Still a while to go though.

Rough list of stuff planned for 0.50:

Considering some of the colonist emails, we should really get serial killers eventually.

Yeah. Working towards it at the moment. The "forced euthanasia" animation we have done might annoy Valve a bit..

Currently I'm adding more threatening "social interactions". People making throat slash and other agressive gestures and physically assaulting each other during conversations.

Will we see more features to directly interact with our people in one of the upcoming releases.

Because at this moment, influence is quite limited. I mean, people have trouble if overworked, but we can't tell them to take it slow. Or they might need something, but it's them who decide when they feel like building it.

Definitely more so, although still keeping the hands off approach. I'm working on having a lot more (meaningful) interactions when you click on stuff. Marking things for research, allocating an object, say a bed to specific colonists and changing behaviours etc. I've worked to get the moods a little more predictable too, as people randomly having breakdowns because they had to zip up a bodybag 20 minutes ago is confusing to an inobservant player.

Currently working through the 3 day weekend on 0.50. Nailed 30-40 bugs so far and have put in 4 major features. My QA guy is going to crap himself when he sees. :D

Nice to hear that!
One day I'll go back to trying to not die. Actually, last time I played I fared really well after losing 2 or 3 bases.  :D

This will sound silly to ask, as I haven't played for a while and this is not the best way to talk bugs..but did you manage to fix the issue with having multiple workbenches?
I remember that having more than 2 would somehow make everyone trying to build stuff go braindead. They tried to build a sofa for a long time, and I think one of them even died.

Also, last time I played I didn't know there would be animals. That scared the crap out of me when that huge hound thing decided to always sleep IN MY DOOR.
Creepy. And Fun.

It honestly feels like a lot of their problems came from the fact that their entire team was composed of cats, and the people who were supposed to be herding them were also cats.
