Xinvoker what's your specs? GPU or CPU usage the problem?
I'm suspect it's CPU, I get 75% load on a quadcore. Even in the launch menu the one with the rotating planet, I get immense mouse lag, even though the planet movement seems ok.

Just a note, Maia is currently one of the flash sales on steam for 25% off for the next 7 and 1/2 hours if you haven't already picked it up.

Sorry, did a search for Steam in this thread but didn't find what I was looking for. How to Steam key if we bought it from your site before it was released?

Go to the downloads page in the Maia members page and you should see a box with your steam key.

Mac builds are live and all fixed up for Mavericks.  :) Glad that I can get started working on features now and not OS specific bug fixes.

Not going to happen. I won't go lower than the standard Kickstarter tier out of respect for my backers.

Thanks Sim. i would like to think that my contributions for backing your project isn't overwritten by a quick buck sales grab. (even though how cheap this game really is too)

I doubled the performance on Windows today. Was an insane 14 hours of straight coding, but the game is now on an entirely new multithreading system and should go like the clappers!

Wowzah, will have to take a look tonight :D

14h to make something multithreaded sounds pretty good actually! I'm surprised it didn't take longer, consider how hard multithreaded bugs tend to be to track down!

Hah yeah. Basically I stripped out the silly complex system I had and took it back to the bare minimum using some of C++11's new features. It's much, much faster now.

Put out a build today: http://forum.maiagame.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=604&p=4569#p4569 Still need to get that onto the members areas for the Steam haters.

Also was in Forbes! http://www.forbes.com/sites/danielnyegriffiths/2014/01/17/steam-matters-for-indie-developers-day-z-offers-a-million-reasons-why/2/

Settle down there, killer.  I'm pretty sure arson is a disproportionate response.  Can you tell us the short version of why you dislike Steam without threatening anyone/anything with a Class A-1 felony?  ^___^

While I do tend to roll my eyes at all of the "ZOMG Steam!  ZOMG Day-Z!!!" articles that have cropped up in the last week or so... that doesn't make the guy wrong.  Steam has a huge built in audience, and it puts games in front of eyeballs with its sales.  It's not perfect, but all things considered, it does okay.  Early Access isn't perfect either, but it is giving a lot of indies a way to playtest works-in-progress and also have some kind of revenue coming in to keep the ball rolling.

As for Maia... this game looks like it was tailor-made to behave like heroin injected directly into my brain.  @_@  I beat the stuffing out of DK1, DK2, and Evil Genius... and enjoyed them all.  I've also been fond of sci-fi things in general for a long time.

My only saving grace is that my 5 year old Frankenbox can't run it, and I have a full course load at school to keep me busy... otherwise, this game could easily do significant damage to my life in meatspace.  >_>

Nnnnno? There's an offline mode, dude. Only games you need internet connection for are ones that have that coded by the developer...

Dunno about the other half of that though.
