... Okay... so I downloaded it, unzipped it and ran it. Command prompt window popped up alongside a white screen that pretty much immediately went to "Not Responding". The command prompt window let me know it was just loading assets, so that's okay. The game comes up and there's a planet that looks kind of like earth with some red flashes going on under the atmosphere. This is surrounded by a black void with nothing else around it. There are occasionally flashes in the black void to the right of the planet. Pressing anything vomits me into the game, where there are black blotches on the left side of the screen. I assume these are blacked out pieces of the UI. All I can do is click on things to designate them to be dug out and hover the mouse over people to check things out and move the camera around. Pressing ESC immediately shuts down the program (which might be intentional, but I figured there might be a menu or something).

Pretty sure my copy is bugged to hell?

Aww, but I thought there were actual things to do. People were talking about actually things to do. =(
Neat tech demo, though.

Actually there are hotkeys you can use to do more things like build

Code: [Select]
Controls:

WSAD = movement.
Mousewheel = zoom
Alt + mouse mouse = rotate camera

Click to track an entity.

9-0 decrease/increase scroll speed.

f12 Screenshot.

j = Place rooms.
Press 1-7 for different room types.

h = Info mode. Click-place digging markers (on rock) / read info tips (on mouseover of objects)

k = Click-place objects (use v-b to scroll all objects ctrl for snap-to-grid )

u = Instabuild objects (gets rid of green hologram effect) .

Click to track any object in game.

l = regenerate world. (bugged: Memory leak!)

Escape = Exit

But yeah it's basically still a tech demo.

This is the problem with releasing an actual alpha rather than a feature incomplete beta. :(

Currently a lot of things are chugging away behind the simulation. If you build rooms and place items the colonists will use them and do research and stuff. Stuff like happiness and mental states can't be shown because I havnt coded in the animations yet. (got 100 for the colonists aline)

The main issues are the resource economy is turned off and also death. I'll make a build with both in next week which will give it a bit more depth.

I suggest you call it the "Death and Taxes" build.

What kind of state is this game in at the moment? I snapped up the preorder without even a second thought as this game looks incredible; but how playable is it right now?

I will absolutely pre-order this once the build gets to something a little more playable (probably Beta) - I love the concept, love the ideas and I'm fairly sure I'll love the execution.

You might aswell preorder now as you can get an extra 21% off with the coupon code "GREENLIGHTER", and it's likely to only go up in price from here on.

As I may have enough money now I must ask: Is the discount still valid?
