Bah, kickstarter won't let me log in to add my vote/comment, but option 2 definetely seems a lot better.

Adding in the monies from the indiegogo as well, looks like the HD graphics goal has been reached. Now I hope we see the £25k in 40 hours so we get the robot editor.

Yeah the robot editor seems to be what I am hoping for.

It's a hard target anyway, I won't get my hopes too high.  :)

I wouldn't mind it as DLC, even though Simon is against them.

Yeah, DLC is fine so long as it's genuinely adding worthwhile elements to a game, rather than when it's horse armour or stuff that should have been in there to begin with.  Hell, throw in an expanded tech tree, an extra robot type and maybe a few weapons and that's basically an actual old fashioned expansion right there.

Actually, I like the fancy useless stuff DLC option. The dev's get their money, the people get their fancy hats, and I'm not suffering from it.

It gets  problematic when stuff's cut in favour of DLC, or when you get overprized DLC. And yeah, I'd really like the return of the expansions. At this point DLC often sells at the same price, but gives much less.

The last time I saw a game with an explicitly named expansion was Shogun 2. Can't think of any others in recent history. Starcraft 2? Do they call them expansions?

AI War has expansions (One very quite recently). And both C&C: Tiberium Wars and Red Alert 3 had one. (much less recently).

I could potentially add it to the game at a later date. I would likely do it as a free update. However, having the cash from the outset would let us do something really special, whereas doing it after the fact means creating a shadow of what it could have been. Specifically on the graphics and music front.

Tacking on something as large as that might be problematic.

On a side note, How about modding potential?

Well, most major MMOs still do full expansions (on top of free content updates that single player games might consider DLC). But that may not be as applicable here.

It's not really free when you're paying for it, just not explicitly.

Looks like the robot editor may be on the cards after all, £130k on the kickstarter with 26 hours to go and $2200 on indiegogo. Once the kickstarter finishes, can you post what targets the indiegogo needs to reach to get the remaining stretch goals?

Simon once the kickstarter finishes would you be able to post up another of those money/time graphs like you did a few days ago?
