Sheesh, Roth! Why should we even bother giving you a whole hundred thousand pounds when this Ruth guy can do it for only a thousand? Clearly us backers have misspent our money. :P

30% in and still 22 days to go. You're doing good!

According to Kicktraq you're trending for ~127k with a projected low of 98k and a high of 184k.

Just to help out I've been tweeting about it. You should pick a hashtag like #maia or @maiagodgame or whatever and have everyone tweet about it, include it in the kickstarter page, etc. Add some facebook/google+ share buttons if you can.

Anyway questions.

Is there a persistent world? Ie, will you have an actual world-gen / map thing were we plot our bases down, and will we be able to reclaim them, or is it just fiddling with some settings, before starting a game?

Also could I share an interesting seed with a friend to let him get the same map?

Obviously I don’t want to spend too much time on it, because it’s not a core part of the game, but being able to suddenly possess something and do it yourself might keep people from getting frustrated.
Oh god, this. Anyone play the Lego Rock Raiders game? Some of the missions would have been unfinishable without this feature, thanks to the dumb-as-fuck AI.

None of the creatures have evolved past being the kind of very early mammals that were evolving like 500 million years ago. One of them is codenamed the Magpie, and it’s completely harmless to your colonists. It’s about the size of a man. It’s a large, slightly lizard-like creature and it runs a bit like a velociraptor from the first Jurassic Park, but it’s a bit more cuddly looking. It doesn’t kill anyone, all it does is it runs into your base and it steals shiny things. It’s going to be really annoying, but I think that’s the brilliance of it. It’ll steal your lights, it’ll steal any power cells that you leave around, they’ll tear the guts out of any of your reactors that are running. .... Then there’s another creature, which again isn’t actively aggressive, it just sits there. It’s like one of the giant sloths that used to exist a few hundred thousand years ago. It just sits there all day just eating. But if it sees one of your IMP bots, or a magpie, for absolutely no reason it will just go into a complete rage and just start smashing everything in its path and chasing after IMP bots. And so you’ll probably end up having to sacrifice that IMP if it gets seen, because the IMP won’t want to sacrifice itself: it will run back into your base and [the sloth-like beast] will follow and tear out your airlock. Then all shit will break loose.
Well, THAT sounds like Dwarf Fortress. Those damn thieving monkeys!

Edit: Looks like the PCGamer article is helping. It's only noon now, and this is the first day to have more pledges and backers than the day before it since the second day of the project.

I love the possession aspect of the game, and I really hope you make most if not all actions possible in that mode.

Got a timelapse of the ecosystem, with plants growing/dying, day night cycles. :)

Also getting the new IMP ready for a video showing me giving them orders and doing stuff.

It totally is. My email is back to like it was on the launch day.

I'm also pushing a lot of PR on some other angles too. Really want to get on some of the big geek sites like Slashdot, Io9, Boing Boing and the like. Don't think submitting it myself will get me very far though.

Sounds great!
Maybe you could even add it to the front page, since the original video is lacking gameplay.

ETA on next update simon ? :D

Next video of the game... Early next week. Have some more big articles soon.

There may be more updates to convince people how awesome the posters and soundtrack will be.

At the moment, the conversion rate is crazily high, if people watch the video they more often than not back the game. I just need more people to watch the bloody video. :p

All it would take would be getting on a big geeky site in the US and we'd hit the target in an evening.

Another update answering three questions that everyone asks:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1438429768/maia/posts/345066

ScriptWolf: Story sounds cool, although might be very time intensive. I'll have to see, I'm erring towards just pushing out more game/engine footage atm.

And maybe once more gameplay is out there then :) I really can't wait for that :D

The update was really nice but you left out the physical copy of the game so what the box is going to be like what is going to be in the box any special stuff ? Ect... Also any chance of us getting HD wallpapers of your concept art? ;)
