You don't need to regen the world.  Just edit the save file.
Why does everyone think that?
The raw files are in the save files too.
It creates a copy for each world.
You can have one world full of unicorns that shit rainbows, and another one with gritty realism, in the same copy of DF.

I do not know, probably was like that in a far earlier version of DF, but it could also be one of the forum's many myths.

I have started a fortress with The Silent Wraith. Well, the Something Wraith. Anyways, it's on the border of a sandy deert and a grasslandy area. The Equal Evils are starting Gristlemenaces with a few bags of sand, a few chunks of fire clay, a pick, an axe, an anvil, some iron for a glass furnace, a couple copper bars, three trolls, and of course the wagon.I must prepare lodgings, ere the leopards get hungry.
I'll get a pic of the location up as soon as tinypic/internet works on the laptop.

EDIT: I take it back, DF can't read the region it just saved to for some reason...

You can start when you claim the site!

I'm making a modification to the ten year rule.  Ten years will be mandatory, but every 2.5 years you can have your character go to an optional meeting and share.  Also made rule 6 on the list in the first post mandatory for 'travel' to the meeting.

I would say one month there and back is a reasonable amount of time.  Those arriving early would still need to wait for those that arrive later.

Well, that's what I did, but still needed to restart, because there was several months before I realized that, and with seasonal autosave, I had to regen. I didn't think that No_eat, No_drink could influence the gob civ that much. So, genned with No_eat, No_drink, and then removed it.

Oh. I've survived for less than year, and then the violent ghost of dead migrant tore my leg off!
Not dead yet, but it's just a matter of time... Well, evil place is good for getting rid of unwanted migrants, but ghosts are real hardcore.
Will post the story and pictures later.
