Edited a bit the entity.default : http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=7104

Changed some nobles names (e.g. chief doctor for humans).
Added tools to elves (jug, hive, nest box, pot and wheelbarrow) and goblins (same + minecart).
Added soap maker and screw press to goblins (even elves can make soap from tallow) as well as beekeeping, waxworking.
Added kiln works (potter and glaze) to goblins.
Added training weapons to goblins.
Added the smelting reactions to goblins (except pig iron, steel, and candy).
Added some jobs to goblins (milker, cheese maker, gem cutter and setter, tresher (plant processing), miller, clerk and administrator).

New one, correct?

I have found a decent world.  Has savage areas in the north, calm at random in the south, and a few places where you can embark with two separate oceans, or attempt to create a bridge or tunnel between two land masses over or under an ocean.  World image/gen parameters/sample of the civilizations coming soon.

Elf sounds like the most dangerous, due to limited access to safe building materials.  I guess the points that would normally be spent on an anvil would go towards guard dogs.  Although, digging trenches or removing ramps could help offset that.

This could be fun, but I need to decide on a faction and where to embark.  Also, how to get rid of the other 6 in an interesting way.

I am probably going to just drop obsidian upon them using DFhack...

The world I have discovered:

If we are using this world, I already found my Fun embark site:

Oh, I'll start downloading.
And honestly, I don't need to embark on haunted land to be challenged.  But I think I might do so anyway.
Because I've tried a couple dry runs, as mentioned, and I think I like it better than regular Fort mode.  At some point, the game just gets to be --OH DWARVES SO MANY DWARVES WHERE DO THEY COME FROM WHY WON'T THEY STOP-- and that's no fun for me.

I'm only embarking there due to the fact that it is the only place I had found:
with a river
with no aquifer
with multiple shallow metals (which are in the mountains, no less)
and trees.

Oh damn.  That's... that's gonna be hard to beat.
Well, I guess I'll have to start looking.

EDIT:  Oh, and "Killrace him" while loo[k]ing at your target kill him/her/it.  Or "slayrace him."  Doesn't really matter.  One will work.

EDIT(2): Uh, I'm missing something.  What am I supposed to do with the "Hermits United.txt"?

I don't know if there's a way to go through aquifer in Hermit. Or well, it needs to power the pump with windmill/waterwheel, while digging.
Well, I'm gonna look at that world.

In the same folder as the init files, there is one labeled 'worldgen.'  Open it up, along with the Hermits United document.  Copy the text in Hermits United onto the end of the worldgen file.  Save the worldgen file.  Start up DF, and select design new world with advanced parameters.  Then select the parameters lowest on the list.

Well, if there's a ravine, that's one way I've done it already.  But yeah, it's really hard to do, if not impossible, otherwise.

And thanks, Zanz.

I think I found an embark site. Clay, soil, shallow metal, deep metal and flux stone (no aquifer), river and trees.
Just, we are at 100/200 points with or without skills ? And with the price of a pick ?

(well, yeah, of course you can try to avoid the aquifer, but going through in hermit looks complex)

Can you post an image?
Since that is where you are going to embark your hermit to, and therefore claimed, we don't want anyone else going to the same point, do we?
