I'll play as a dwarf too.

Hell, I'll probably die really quickly, but I'll give it a go.  As a Human.
Hmm... reading the second post, I think I'd rather give it a go as a Gobbo.
I'm still going to die really quickly though.

Well, I was going to be a dwarf, but it seems as though most people are doing that...eh, I'll try out human then. Should be fun, maybe Fun too.

I'm going to scrounge through the raws of the mods and post the appropriate files within a link to DFFD.  It's almost time to search for the world we're playing this in.

I'll try goblins. My first fortress involved badly-modded goblins...

Since I just went to the trouble of finding all these cards, here's on for the thread.

Just thought I'd put it here, as it fits.

I'm interested, but as I've never done Hermit before, so I have some questions :

As you start with 7 dwarves, you have to kill the 6 others, right ? There's no way to start with only 1 dwarf ? (And what's the easiest way to deal with them, without the last one getting mad ?)

Doesn't the pop cap require that an outpost liaison come and get back to the mountainhome before activating ?

With 100 points and no trade, there's no possibility for metalsmithing ?

I'm thinking that you could have the six useless dwarves walled off to starve to death using squads and alerts and such. However, that seems a bit dirty, in the sense that the corpses will just be there and then you'll have to deal with ghosts and slabs...there should probably be a nicer way to do it.

I don't know about the other two things, but I'd be sad if there's no chance of metal crafting. =(

Why?
Get dwarven/human/whoever-has-anvils caravan, kill traders some other way than atomsmash - volia, you've just got your anvil!

Also, I think I will join, as vanilla dwarf.

Well, that seems a bit easy to kill the caravan. You can just set up a trap (e.g. flooding), kill the caravan, and get away with plenty of goods. The quantity of food and booze in caravan is clearly enough for 1 dwarf for years. I would better see anvil and pick + 100pts and no contact at all with caravans.

1) The hermits can pick up to [100 points - price of copper pick] worth of items, along with [what they need to create a pick, or a pick].
Ergo, you can take an anvil, 1 copper ore, and 66 points of items (100-44)

You can kill off the others by stationing them somewhere for a while. They'll die of dehydration. And there is no happiness hit if the last dwarf doesn't see the bodies.
