Is it possible to throw alive creatures?
« on: October 30, 2012, 12:16:55 pm »

I know that you can throw dead corpses to your heart's content, but what about those that are still living?
Because, Armok, this is pretty awesome when screwing around with dead bodies, but let's face it - killing a goblin by throwing him into a wall and crushing all his bones MUST be an awesome and mildly badass sight, right?

I think that when you wrestle someone, they should count as an "item" in the throwing menu so you can potentially do some really epic Superman style fights...
Also, jump killing makes me think of OGMO from JUMPER! :D

Boy, now I want to play that game again.

I'm fairly sure you can, but...It's just blood.
Although I just killed a few dwarves with their own tongues, so I'm sure throwing blood may easily be lethal, too.

I think you can actually throw a creature by wrestling their upper body while they're not prone or something along those lines.

I remember throwing stuff to death with live roaches, in adventure mode. And with vomit.

Throwing units can only be done as a wrestling move, and it'll only work if you're really large and the other unit is really tiny.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

You can definately kill creatures, even very very big and armored creatures, by throwing living tiny things at them - this thread highlights an early-ish triumph of such http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=56935.0

I have definately seen enemies grab and throw my dwarves, especially children.  In a game during the most recent previous version, a flock of giant mosquitos (back when they used to travel by the 100s) was migrating between my fortress and a group of approaching immigrants.

One of the mosquitos grabbed a child by the nose and threw her about 25 squares, causing her to drop 1 z level before she landed.  That version had no skid damage - and throws themselves are harmless - so the kid landed and kept running for the fortress.

Vermin are items, not units, and thrown items behave in a totally different (and overpowered) way.
