Fuzzy, it's in the spritesheet now! With those sprites using Yanfly I could make a basic enemy.

Out of curiosity, how does Yanfly work? Do you add characters through a separate editor? In code?

Sweet. What size are the monster sprites, by the way? I'm feeling... mooky.

You can make them an animation: here's an example.


For a less important enemy, they can be static images.



I can also take the spritesets and use them as enemies, too. This would be best when fighting, say... other humans.

Animations are preferable, because in this engine the enemy will move toward a player to attack, and with some monsters it would just look awkward, as the above one.

This is what it looks like with sprites as enemy battlers. (It works, albeit looking a bit stilted.) Image is from a game I started some years ago and never finished.

These are scripts that most of which I got off RMRK, and others from Yanfly's website. Far better than anything the vanilla RPG Maker can do anyway. Contains a lot of bugfixes for the program and the games they make too.
