Had you a more advanced mind, you would be pondering why exactly nature had birthed you in a place like this. Fortunately or unfortunately, you don't. All that you want is food.

The lichen nearby is outside of your reach and the sludge is not at all...appetizing. Well, at least you think; your new digestive system might be able to deal with it. You journey along the path, clambering over the stones. You have little of time, but you can tell you've been walking for "a long while". You observe that the stone has gradually become more jagged and cracked and that the sludge seems to be of a higher amount, actually washing upon the rock and staying there. You also find a small alcove, an end to the long path on you've been treading, although it still extends for a great distance. There seems to be...several structures attached to the wall in a pattern leading up to a circular stone. Of course, you soon forget that as you see a large (30 cm in height!) plant growing near it. You devour it lovingly.

Our host (pun intended) has helped us noticed that we cannot reach several things that might be edible.

Lichen cling.  Rats are very good climbers.  More upwards mobility/more height may be useful to get more of the local food that's currently out of reach, though this may be perilous/require more investment than we can afford yet.  Wings are totally out for now, surely.

Out host has also mentioned more than once that our skin is inefficient.  And that it digests things.  This mention was repeated even after we gained an internal digestive system.  I believe that we are not getting the best we could get from our infrequent meals, and improving this (we can use our OWN DNA for this, yes?  And/or borrow the digestive codes from both the lichen and the rat?) might be the most efficient thing we can do.

Sidenote, most lichen are a symbiotic combination of fungus and algae.  Could we add chloroplasts to any part of our exposed skin?  There may be enough light here to get some good from.  That lichen initially described as "A clump of...something is growing on a wall near a particularly bright fire".  That possibly supports photosynthesis.  But we didn't get whatever sort of plant we ate DNA listed as available, or any of the bacteria/virii/archaea that we were exposed to in the water and in our meals so far - I suspect that we may be limited to using Opisthokonta DNA (that would include animals, fungi, and an extremely narrow range of unicellular critters that are closest related to animals and fungi, not bacteria or other prokaryotes).

We've got one very nice potential tool though.  'sewer mice' are probably as social as most other types of mice; they have pheremones and other scented forms of communication that help attract others of their kind.  I suggest that we change our odor to smell like our first meal.  Our brain's probably not good enough to tell what odors of the beastie are needed to attract others, so lets simply take the odor entire.  It may have the added advantage of attracting some of that critter's predators to us as well, which in this environment we can hope are likewise small and not to dangerous.

tl dr: Lets change to smell like a mouse.  This should make other mice and mouse hunters come to us.

This, but only after the metabolism. Even if we'll have a steady supply of mice, we'll still have to eat them every few minutes (or however long those turns take).

*looks at our current hunger score*
2/5 ??
and we had +3 just now...
how exactly did we reach -1?

IF our hunger score really is 2/5, i suggest we eat more before next evolution

if our hunger score is actually full, then i suggest we evolve climbing

Sleepy GMs are bad GMs. Correcting.

And yes, we can use our own DNA for evolution, it's just that we are not sure what exactly we can do.

Using the newly acquired material, you quickly head back into metamorphosis, this time increasing the over-all metabolism of your cells. You don't fall asleep this time, but stay awake for the process. The changes, while quite extensive, does not cause any trauma. Of course, you also feel yourself getting rapidly hungry.

Beyond the hunger, there was a new subconscious thought...however it was far too complex for you to comprehend completely. You do feel a bit less..energetic than before though.

To sate your usual hunger, you decide to look for some more food. Your brain is too simple to connect environment-to-food so you just continue to meander along the rock path, increasingly getting more jagged and broken-up. You can sense plenty of vibrations around you, and you do believe that they are the same as that animal you had eaten before. These ones however were not as hungry nor careless. You still have not seen any of them. The fires along the walls seem to be getting less common and the water seems to be covered with debris around here. Several small corridors connect along the main path and there are now several tunnels the trickle of water and sludge pour into. large holes in the walls seem to be delivering more water to the system down here. Lichen is abundant here, as well as a variety of other plants, most of which seem to be inhabiting the water. You can sense something moving in the water, something that seems big to you. There are less vibrations coming from the ceiling, although occasionally you sense long ringing vibrations coming down from above.

-2 Hunger

From here on in, evolutions will have differing evolution costs. No more organ reorganisation with only 2 evo.
